Achievements and Scholarships
The students of department of ECE has come out with flying colors in the Anna university examinations and secured top ranks which includes three gold medals. The list of rank holders since 2012 is enclosed in the following link.

To impart research practices in the student community, the department offers national and international internships in reputed universities and industries. To name a few, the students of the department are encouraged regularly to take up international internships offered by universities in Italy, Japan, and the USA. The students are also taking up internship offers from PSUs of the government of India and several other institutes of national importance. To motivate students to excel in studies and research, the management of SSN provides 100% walk-in walk-out scholarships for university rank holders in B.E/B.Tech Anna University examinations.
Our undergrad students are actively involved in participating competitions organized by the state and the central government organizations.
Highlights
From 8th to 12th Jul. 2019, Dr. W. Jino Hans, Asso. Prof. participated as a mentor for the team “Infinity Clones” in Smart India Hackathon – Hardware Edition 2019 held at IISER, Pune. The student participants were: Ms. A. Uma, IV Yr , Ms. D. P. Sharavanee, Ms. M. P. Shwetha, Ms. R. Kirthana, Mr. Aparajith Srinivasan from III year and Mr. S. Surendran & Mr. S. Suryaprakash from III year/Chemical. The team won first prize worth Rs. 75,000/-.
Dr. S. Sakthivel Murugan, Asso. Prof. mentored the team “Ctrl + Alt + Elite” in the finals of Smart India Hackathon – Hardware Edition held at IIT Delhi held from 8th – 12th Jul. 2019. The team members were: Mr. S. Shrinivas Badri, Mr. Mohammed Fayaz from III year, Mr. Saravanan, Ms. Samyuktha, Ms. Shivani, Ms. Saranya from III year/IT.
Dr. K. J. Jegadish Kumar, Asso. Prof. mentored the team “Still variables” in the finals of Smart India Hackathon – Hardware Edition held at SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Kattankulathur from 8th – 12th Jul. 2019. The team members were: Ms. Pooja Shankar, Ms. R. Sinciga, Ms. P. Vigneswari, Mr. L. Nidhin, Mr. K. Vignesh from IV year & Mr. M. Balaji from III year.
Dr. K. K. Nagarajan, Asso. Prof. attended Smart India Hacathon 2019 Hardware Edition as mentor for the team “Hardware Hackerz” at Forge Accelerator, KCT Tech Park, Coimbatore from 8th – 12th Jul. 2019. The team members were: Mr. S. Sanjay, Ms. S. Swetha, Mr. Vinayak Hebbar, Mr. Sumit Kumar from III year and Mr. Dinesh kumar, Mr. Adithya Avinash from IV Year.
‘Team Butterflies’ with C. Kiruthika, III Yr/ECE, as team leader & Dr. W. Jino Hans, Asso. Prof. as mentor has been selected to display their project at the finals of IEEE YESIST12-Maker fair to be held at Stamford International University, Bangkok, Thailand during Sep. 7th & 8th, 2019.
Dr. S. Radha, Prof & Head/ECE and Dr. B. S. Sreeja, Asso. Prof. as mentors participated in Smart India Hackathon 2019 at IIT Jamshedpur. The team members were Mr. Yogesh V. Narayan & Mr. J. Shakthivelu from IV Yr/ECE, Mr. S. P. Jayanth, III Yr/ECE, Mr. U. Sampath Kumar, Mr. K. Raj Vignesh and Ms. G. Poojah from II Yr/ECE. The team won first prize worth Rs. 75,000/-.
Dr. K. Muthumeenakshi, Asso. Prof. and Dr. R. Hemalatha, Asso. Prof. as mentors participated in Smart India Hackathon 2019 at B.V. Bhoomaraddi College of Engineering & Technology, Hubli, Karnataka. The team members were Ms. S. Sneha, Ms. R. Sriharini, Ms. D. Supriya, Mr. P. Rokesh Kumar, Mr S. Surya kumaran, Mr. Shaik Afnaan Mehraj from II yr/ECE. The team won first prize worth Rs. 75,000/-.
Dr. V. Vaithianathan, Asso. Prof. and Dr. K. J. Jegadish Kumar, Asso. Prof. have participated as mentors in the Smart India Hackathon 2019 – Software Edition held at Techno India NJR Institute of Technology, Biliya, Udaipur. The student participants were: Mr. N. Narasimhan, Mr. M. Pradeep Kumar, Mr. M. Narendra Varma, Mr. G. Naveen, Mr. K. Pavan Dheeraj from II yr/ECE & Ms. Harshavardhini, II yr/IT.
Dr. N. Venkateswaran, Prof/ECE mentored a student team, “Game of Drones” for the Smart India Hackathon-2019 at Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering, Tirupathi. The student participants were: Mr. M. S. Praveen Kumar, IV Yr/ECE, Ms. G. Harine, Ms. Mridhula Ramesh from III Yr/ECE, Ms. K. Suguna, Ms. S. Vinitha, Ms. M. Vijipriya from II Yr/ECE
Dr. W. Jino Hans, Asso. Prof. and Dr. R. Sujatha, Asst. Prof. /Maths participated as mentors in Smart India Hackathon 2019 held at NIT Calicut. The student participants were: Ms. A. Uma, IV Yr/ECE, Mr. Kesav Ravichandran, Mr. I. Niranjan Kumar, Mr. R. Rahul, Mr. Neelesh Gopalakrishnan and Mr. G. Karthik from II Yr/ECE.
Ms.Kiruthika.C , II Yr/ECE, has won IMC Inclusive Innovation Award for the year 2017 with a cash prize Rs. 2,00,000 and support for a start-up with incubation and mentoring.

The department’s annual conference WISPNET technically co-sponsored by IEEE is a mega event which hosts keynote address from eminent researchers and academicians across the globe. To meet the needs of local community the department organizes a national conference called NCICT every year which is the culmination of delegates from various levels including IITs and NIT. To provide hands on training on software and hardware, the department of ECE regularly conducts workshops for PG students. Placement and Higher Education
For the past fifteen years, over 90% of the eligible students of the department are placed in reputed companies such as Paypal, Qualcomm, Caterpillar, Amazon, Soliton, Mckinsey, Citibank, etc.
To create an awareness about placements and higher education, the department conducts a yearly programme “A day with Alumni with future Alumni”. The resource persons for this programme is our alumni working in various reputed core and IT companies. They provide valuable insights regarding preparation for job interviews, expectations of the companies and work etiquette required during the job. Furthermore, the final year students share their experience of placement activities with third year students.
