About Mathematics Department
The Department of Mathematics was established in 1996. It serves to provide a strong foundation in Mathematics and its applications in engineering both at undergraduate and postgraduate level.
The department of Mathematics has 13 faculty members with doctorate degree working on diverse areas such as Rough Set Theory, Algebra, Fluid Mechanics, Graph Theory, Image Processing, Fuzzy Set Theory, Queuing Theory, Functional Analysis, Stochastic Process, Neural Networks, Sampling Theory and Topology.
The department has been recognized as a research centre of Anna University, Chennai. All the faculty members are recognized Ph.D supervisors of Anna University. 24 students have been awarded Ph.D. degree. 25 research scholars are pursuing their Ph.D. under the guidance of our faculty.
The Department of Mathematics always extent their contribution to Mathematical community by organizing various events. The department organizes 37th Annual Conference of Ramanujan Mathematical Society during 06-08, December 2022. The department conducts Advanced Training camp in Mathematics (ATCM) and Mathematics Training and Talent Search Programme (MTTS) on regular intervals. The department also organizes FDP’s, workshops and International conferences periodically.
Also our department act as a platform for the students to exhibit and develop their interest and talents towards Mathematics. This is achieved through our Maths Club. Various intercollegiate events will be organized by our students through programs like ExLog, Math Quiz, National Mathematics Day and SSN Cube Open.
