Dr. Sachin Gaurishankar Sarate, Full time Doctor cum Assistant Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering has 5 years of Clinical Experience as Medical Doctor, 1.5 years of teaching and research experience, including 1 year of research experience in the field of Development of Artificial Lung Surfactant.

 He received his M.B.B.S. degree from Government Medical College, Aurangabad, which was then affiliated to Dr.BabasahebAmbedkarMarathwada University, Aurangabad, Maharashtra (now affiliated to Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik, Maharashtra), and M.Tech. in Biomedical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology Bombay, Powai, Mumbai.

During his M.Tech. he worked for development of artificial lung surfactant for treating the disease –  Neonatal Respiratory Distress Syndrome. He made nono size liposomes (which were intended to be used as artificial lung surfactant) by extrusion and did their size characterization. He tested their biocompatibility on human RBCs and mammalian cells (maintained and cultured mammalian cells) and also did lung deposition studies in an impinger. He also worked on surface tension related experiments in Langmuir Blodgett trough.

He has registered for PhD in Anna University in the faculty of Information Technology under the guidance of Dr.Alphin M. S. (Asso. Prof. Dept. of Mechanical Engineering, SSNCE).

 He is in charge of the Clinic at SSN CE and gives medical treatment to students, Faculty and Staff members as a Full-time Doctor.

His areas of research include Medical devices design, Tissues Engineering, Biomaterials, Sports Biomechanics and Ergonomics.
