Dr. Divya John – Associate Professor

english

Dr. Divya John secured a first class in MA English Language and Literature from the University of Calicut, Kerala, and qualified at the UGC-NET (National Educational Test) in Dec 2000. She completed the Postgraduate Certificate in the Teaching of English (PGCTE) with distinction from CIEFL, Hyderabad, in 2004, with a GPA of 3.86. She was awarded PhD in English by the University of Calicut in Jan 2008.
Dr. John joined the Dept of English, SSN College of Engineering, on 3 Jan 2007. She has eighteen and half years of teaching and research experience and is recognized as a PhD Supervisor in the Faculty of Science and Humanities of Anna University, Chennai. She presented 38 papers in national and international conferences and published 24 papers in national and international journals on ELT and Literature.
Dr. John served as the Head of the Dept of English at SSN for 5 years (7 March 2008 to 31 March 2013). During her tenure, she organized the First SSN Creative Writing Contest and the SSN Best Speaker Contest in 2010-2011, and this has become a programme conducted annually. She is the Faculty Coordinator of English Literary Club of SSN (ELC) and The SSN Theatre Club (Lights Out Please).
Dr. John published 27 poems in national and international journals, anthologies and websites. Her poems, “Love Rewritten” & “A Criss-Cross of Cuts” were shortlisted in the All India Poetry Competition organized by The Poetry Society (India) in 2015 & 2017. Her first collection of her poems, Whispers Within, was published in May 2009, and the second collection, Crisscross Cantos, in Feb 2019.
