Placement
Placements are an integral part of SSN and we meticulously strive to achieve better and competitive placement targets to ensure that our outstanding students grab the job offers for their caliber of talent. Our esteemed institution provides ample services and support related to placement affairs jointly facilitated by the CDC (Career Development Centre) and the Department of Information Technology. Our department also takes special steps to ensure that our students’ bag top placement offers every year.
Placement overview roadmap:

Support provided by Career Development Center
- AMCAT/ CoCubes assessment provided to test the student’s logical, conceptual and core knowledge of the subjects. This test is conducted right before the start of placement training session. A student may choose to attempt the test from either vendor. A detailed report is then generated, assessing the strengths and weaknesses. This test is provided once or twice and serves as a good indicator as to where performance can be improved. The assessment would cover core concepts, aptitude skills, coding (for IT branches) in a time-based platform.
- LinkedIn premium activations are provided for 6 months duration for students to engage in the platform and use it for networking and development purposes, to enhance their career growth. They are provided for students towards the end of the 3rd
- Placement training provided for students in periods of January and July between 4 to 10 days, involving the use of special industry – based skilled trainers to teach students aptitude and coding. Strict attendance and feedback are taken to continuously help evolve the program and make it more effective for the students. Placement training happens in classrooms itself during working days, without clashing with the academic calendar. Industry experts teach in classrooms and are available to clear doubts of students at any time. Placement training ensures that the skills expected by the industry, companies and interviewers are rightly made aware to the students to prepare them accordingly.
- Providing orientation to 1st year students about the placement process in brief for all sections and clarifying all their doubts during special last hour sessions. The orientations are conducted by various faculty placement coordinators (FPCs) across departments.
- A uniform platform for managing placements, POD, is offered to students. All placement and internship opportunities are published in POD, a platform where all students interested in participating in placements are registered. Students can easily apply for all opportunities through this platform which provides a comprehensive view of each company by publishing details such as job description, interview process, CTC, address, time, and venue of process etc. Students can easily view the status of their applications in POD. They are allowed to enter information – academic, personal, and extra – curricular in order to self – generate a resume. Placement offers are also published using the same. It helps provide a transparent view of the CDC’s working.
Support provided specially by the Department of Information Technology:
- Providing orientation to newly joined 2nd year students with a presentation during the inauguration of the AIT student club by the student and faculty placement coordinators so that they may get a head start about understanding the placement process.
- Conducting special workshops by ProCode (Coding club of IT Department) to make junior students from 2nd and 3rd year learn about technical concepts and tools, that will aid them in placement related scenarios. Resume – building workshops and interview workshops are also regularly conducted by seniors as well as passed out students to cultivate a knowledge exchange habit between seniors and juniors. The ProCode sessions happen once a week regularly and are of great use to students.
- Conducting special hackathons within the Department (HackIT) to cultivate a habit of hackathon participation, to lure students into trying out their hand at competitive problem solving. It serves as a good addition to the resumes of students.
- Selection of placement and internship coordinators every year to ensure that information is effectively communicated in a timely manner between students and the CDC. A faculty placement coordinator (FPC) is present to oversee the activities of the SPCs. The SPCs are responsible for maintaining records, assisting placement related activities, forwarding grievances, and passing on information to the students. The faculty coordinator is responsible to managing department related affairs in placement activities.
- A placement repository is maintained that contains details of interview experiences of previously passed out seniors, in order to serve as material from which other students may prepare for placements.
CTC Policies:
The CTC (Cost to company) refers to the salary package offered by a company that is participating in the placement process. There are 4 different categories consisting of ascending CTC buckets. Certain institutional policies exist that allow students belonging to a lower CTC category to attend the process of a company offering a higher CTC thereby allowing a student to get a placement upgrade with his caliber without hindering the placement opportunities of fellow students also.
