M.Tech Information Technology is a two-year post graduate program structured to prepare students for careers in data science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, internet of things and other IT-related happening technologies. It provides an opportunity for the students to work with the best of faculty on current research topics in state-of-the-art research laboratories and publish their work in reputed journals including IEEE transactions, with a uncommon freedom in a one-of-its-kind ambiance of SSN
PEO1: Technical proficiency – Graduates will apply their technical knowledge and expertise to develop and implement computing technologies for a broad mix of informational purposes of the research /industrial/societal needs.

Choice Based Credit System (CBCS)
The curriculum is designed and developed using a systematic approach that includes interactive participation, discussion, and critical inquiry with stakeholders in order to update and revise the syllabus in accordance with industry requirements. For academic flexibility and development, the institution offers the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS).
Board of Studies (BoS)
The curriculum is well-balanced, including Program Core, domain-specific professional and open electives, and projects. The department has its own Board of Studies (BoS), which is made up of external members representing industry, institutions of national importance, and prominent alumni, as well as the HOD and faculty members.

Awards:
Prof. Dr. T. Nagarajan, HoD (IT) has received Chief Minister’s Tamil Computing Award with a cash prize of Rs.1,00,000/-, a Gold Medal and a Citation from the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Mr. Edappadi K. Palaniswami for developing speech technology software tools in Tamil.
Dr. T. Shree Sharmila received “IEEE Outstanding Branch Counsellor & Branch Chapter Advisor Award 2019”, “IEEE Regional Exemplary Student Branch Award”.
Projects and Collaborations:
The faculty are active in research, and have received a cumulative research grant of 197.669 Lakhs from various organizations such as MIETY, DST and DRDO. The department faculty as well as students also work on various projects with the research seed fund grant they receive from the SSN management, which is about 10 Lakhs every year.
Research Publications:
Faculty, with students, publish more than 50 research papers every year in well refereed journals and conferences, including IEEE transactions. More than 80% of the publications are indexed by Web of Science (Thompson Reuters) and Scopus
