M.Tech. IT R2018 Curriculum & Syllabi – Click Here
Assistant Professor, Shiv Nadar University Chennai
I had the privilege of completing my B.Tech, M.Tech and PhD from the IT department of SSN College of Engineering. I was very keen on pursuing research right from my Bachelor degree. M.Tech IT program offered by the Department of Information Technology at SSN college of Engineering provides wonderful research and learning opportunity for the students. The courses are well designed, and curriculum are updated with the recent trends. The infrastructure and the lab facilities are excellent. The faculty members are well qualified and their approach towards handling the subjects are remarkable. The M.Tech students are given lot of freedom to choose the streams that they would like to work upon. Additionally, they also get to work with the research scholars and assist them in their doctoral thesis, thereby leading the way to proper research. The final year project, to be selected by students, for their thesis helps them to hone their skills in terms of both Research and Development. This opens plethora of opportunities and they can decide between pursuing research or join an organization after their placement.
Research Scholar, Department of IT, SSNCE
I have previously worked as an Assistant System Engineer with TCS and as a consultant at Corpus Software totally of five years. But my inclination towards teaching paved the way to pursue my master’s in information technology. Whilst looking for a potential college in Chennai that could help me to nurture both my technical and academic skills, my only hunch was SSN College of Engineering as their reputation speaks for them. I joined the PG programme in the Department of Information Technology during the period 2013-2015, and they became an integral part of my life till date. During the course, we were given an overview of technologies such as cloud computing, big data Analytics, soft computing, Internet of Things and Advanced cryptography. We had a plethora of hands on and theoretical understanding about the above-mentioned courses. The faculty members in the department have always fueled our minds with highly interactive sessions and always made us to inculcate our theoretical learnings into real time applications. Our teachers in the IT department are always approachable and guided us with great support. My peers always shown great interest as a team and we have participated in several challenges and submitted conference papers with the guidance of our lecturers. The caliber shown by my fellow mates and their assistance have motivated others as well to show excellence in both technical and academical front. Now, being a research fellow at IT department, when I had to enroll for my coursework in the department of Information Technology, I noticed that the department is offering courses in the current technologies such as Deep learning and Block chain technology. Our department would be a great choice for students looking for good placements and for those who wish to broaden their research perspective.
Research Scholar, Department of IT, SSNCE
After my UG program, I wrote TANCET and among the top colleges that were listed, I chose SSN College of Engineering because of their higher excellence in academics and placements. The opportunities provided by the department of Information Technology helped us to shape our careers into our respective streams. The IT department offers a wide range of electives and core courses. The elective courses were chosen in a way that they addresses the current trends in both research and placements such as machine learning, deep learning, smart sensors and IoT, and Big data analytics. Students were exposed to the placement process through programs offered through the placement office. SSN’s reputation is recognized worldwide and department of Information technology shaped my career growth. The relationship between faculty members and the students was cordial that enabled us to excel in our own area of interests. After my PG program, I was recruited as an Assistant professor in Anand Institute of Higher Technology and served for 7+ years. I wanted to pursue my PhD and I decided to get back to SSN for better research growth. Now, I am a research fellow associated with department of information technology. We were taught by outstanding and dedicated professors in their field who have both practical and academic experience
Senior Infrastructure Engineer, Mind Tree Technologies Pvt. Limited
I wished to have a career in the networking field since programming was never my area of strength. I pursued M.Tech. IT from SSN College of Engineering. The lab facilities were available 24x7 for the students. I was able to perform the experiments related to the domain that I was interested in. The professors helped me transition my career smoothly to where I am today. I could talk to the professors freely explaining the inclination towards networking. They were very supportive and gave several inputs through which I improved upon. Another striking feature is the peer learning. My classmates also encouraged and helped me to learn and explore other things which were not taught. For instance, I could do a certification on MS-Azure with help from both professors and my classmates. I always cherish the moments that I had in SSN for the two years that I spent.
Earned Ph.D. from IIT-H Now, Senior Systems Research Engineer at Qualcomm Research, San Diego, California, USA.
SSN gave me an opportunity to learn. I was amazed and inspired by the technical depth of the faculty members which I hadn’t experienced before which gave me motivation to study things in detail and to analyse.
