Mahabub Hasan Mahalat is working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Information Technology at SSN College of Engineering, Chennai, Tamil Nadu since November 2025.

Education

He received his Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering from the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Durgapur, in 2022. He completed his M.Tech. (CSE) and B.Tech. (CSE) degrees from Aliah University, Kolkata, in 2016 and 2014, respectively.

Experience

Before joining SSN, he served as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science & Information Technology at the Institute of Technical Education and Research (ITER), Siksha ’O’ Anusandhan (Deemed to be University), Bhubaneswar, from 2021 to 2025. He has over 4 years of teaching experience. He also worked as a Full-time Institute-sponsored Research Scholar and Teaching Assistant at NIT Durgapur from 2016 to 2021.

Research Interests and Achievements

He works in the areas of Physically Unclonable Functions (PUFs), IoT security, security of cyber-physical systems, FPGA-based design, lightweight cryptography, hardware Trojan detection, and hardware-oriented security. He qualified GATE in 2016 and 2018 and cleared UGC-NET in 2018. He has delivered invited talks in faculty development programmes on topics related to embedded and IoT security. He also contributes to the research community as a reviewer for leading journals, including IEEE Transactions on Circuits and Systems II, IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, IEEE Internet of Things Journal, and Scientific Reports (Nature), as well as several Elsevier and Springer publications.

Subjects Taught

He has taught a range of undergraduate courses, including Introduction to Computer Programming using Java, Data Structures and Algorithms, and Full Stack Development. He has also handled associated laboratory courses such as Data Structures using Java, Full Stack Development Lab, and Programming in C. During his tenure as a Teaching Assistant at NIT Durgapur, he conducted lab sessions for Digital Logic Design, Computer Organization and Architecture, and Embedded Systems.

He has authored and co-authored 23 Journal Articles and conference proceedings, including 10 SCI-indexed journals.
