Dr. Saranya Sivasubramanian is Assistant Professor at the Department of Biomedical Engineering, Sri Sivasubramaniya Nadar College of Engineering, Chennai, India. Dr. Saranya has over 14 years of experience in academic research and teaching, specializing in biomedical engineering and medical electronics. She earned her Ph.D. in Medical Electronics from Anna University, where her doctoral thesis explored innovative methods for muscle strength evaluation using surface electromyogram signals.
Her research focuses on developing intelligent systems for musculoskeletal assessment and rehabilitation, utilizing advanced techniques biomedical signal processing, computer vision, machine learning and wearable sensor technologies. Dr.Saranya is a recognized supervisor (Ref no. 4190032) from Anna University for guiding PhD and M.S. (by research) under the faculty of Electronics and Communication Engineering.
She is a Senior Member of IEEE and INAE. She is also a member of Engineering in Medicine and Biology Society (EMBS), – Biomedical Engineering Society of India (Life Member) and International Consortium for Rehabilitation Robotics (ICORR)

Dr. Saranya leads research initiatives in biomechanics and rehabilitation, focusing on movement analysis and sensor-based evaluation. She has successfully secured over 47 lakhs INR in competitive government research grants, including two major projects:
- Personalized visual guidance system for musculoskeletal therapy (SERB-CRG, Govt. of India, ₹27.81 Lakhs)
- Physiologically driven functional knee orthotics (CSIR-Aspire, Govt. of India, ₹20.37 Lakhs)
She is also a part of the core member team of Sajay Centre of Excellence for prosthetics and orthotics granted with 53.3 lakhs for her involvement in developing socially relevant projects
