A Global Interdisciplinary Initiative for Sustainable Water Research and Conservation
Centre of Excellence in Water Research (CEWAR) was established in the year June 2021 at SSN Institutions.
CEWAR is an interdisciplinary initiative that involves experts from different disciplines working in the water research area from various universities that are located all over the world. The main aim of CEWAR is to generate interdisciplinary knowledge in collaboration with top universities globally about waterways and systems that include resource management, sustainable use of existing water resources and treating wastewater that is generated from domestic appliances through simple and cost-effective techniques.
They train the next generation of students, academicians, scholars and industrial personalities. The agenda of CEWAR is to generate a long-term view about water research as it’s needed for conserving society and preserving the nation from water depletion.
Driving Innovation in Water and Wastewater Treatment: Research, Training and Outreach at CEWAR
CEWAR will engage itself in promoting research, short-term training, organising workshops, conferences, faculty development program (FDP), publications and many other outreach. CEWAR activities are carried out with internal scholars, faculty, students and external collaborators.
Research at CEWAR will look at treating water and wastewater streams that are heavily polluted with contaminants through various technologies like adsorption, adsorptive and dissolved air flotation, microbial degradation, membrane filtration, electrochemical oxidation and sensing of pollutants.
All the above technologies have evolved for their best performance through the use of materials that are fabricated using various processes like heat treatment, chemical activation, solvothermal, co-precipitation and many more. It should be highlighted that all the research works that are carried out at CEWAR will show their output in the form of peer-reviewed journal publications, dissertations or through popular articles. CEWAR also conducts occasional Training Programs/Seminars/Workshops in the areas of Instrumentation, Calibration, Analysis, Quality Management, etc.
- To assist all budding researchers in publishing research-oriented works that are carried out using sophisticated instruments in highly reputed platform.
- To carry out suitable, sustainable and feasible sponsored government and consultant projects.
- To assist inter-disciplinary works in academic institutions through systematic motivation and assistance.
- To innovate new and novel procedures in performing an experiment through patent registration in this platform.
- To carry out sample analysis received from academic institution, research centres, industries and other institutions that are located around the environment.
- To train all water-oriented techniques to technicians and engineers for operation and maintenance of sophisticated instruments.
- To organise short term courses, training program, workshops for all academic, research and industrial organisation.
- Symbiotic relationship between research and academic education.
- Global platform for research conduct.
- Exponential intensification in research.
- Chain link for sponsored activities.
- Collaborative work with industries.
The main aim of CEWAR will be to:
- Accept grants, contributions or financial assistance from governmental, quasi-governmental or non-governmental agencies, with a view to fulfil all or any of the above objects
- Develop documentation, publication service, maintenance and supply of data including patent literature, current status reports etc. in the area of instrumentation, testing, standards etc.
- Establish and maintain workshops
- Appoint person for carrying out the work of CEWAR
- Co-operate and affiliate with some institutions, association bodies in India or Aboard (if necessary)
- Establish and maintain technical libraries with respect to information regarding instruments, analysis procedures, national standards
- Establish brief record on water quality data of all major water resources in Chennai for interdisciplinary works
- Purchase, maintain sells report for income utilisation records
- Proper maintenance of instruments with proper collaboration and licensing with purchasing department
- Maintaining proper accreditation with national committee for proper certification of drafted analysis report especially for consultant works
