Mechanical Engineering at SSN
Excellence in Mechanical Engineering, Innovation, Research and Entrepreneurship
The Department of Mechanical Engineering was established in 2007. It offers a B.E. (Mechanical Engineering) programme from the academic year 2007–2008. M.E. (Manufacturing Engineering) programme from 2012–2013. M.E. (Energy Engineering) programme from 2013–2014. The department became an approved research centre of Anna University in 2012.
Our vision is to be a distinguished centre of excellence in Mechanical Engineering, where teaching, learning and research converge to provide quality technical education and scientific research for the public good. Our mission is to develop competent mechanical engineers capable of competing globally. We aim to achieve this by establishing a research hub engaged in cutting-edge research in collaboration with industry. Our projects and hands-on activities are designed to instil an entrepreneurial mindset in students, enabling some to launch their ventures.
