Exploring Mathematical Frontiers at SSN
Established in 1996, the Department of Mathematics provides a strong foundation in Mathematics and its applications across all streams of Engineering (Undergraduate and Postgraduate).
The department consists of 15 faculty members with doctorate degrees working on diverse areas like Rough Set Theory, Algebra, Fluid Mechanics, Graph Theory, Image Processing, Fuzzy Set Theory, Queuing Theory, Functional Analysis, Stochastic Process, Neural Networks, Sampling Theory and Topology.
The department is recognized as a Research Centre of Anna University, Chennai where all the faculty members of the department are recognized PhD supervisors. PhD Degrees have been awarded to 33 research scholars from the department and more than 30 research scholars continue to pursue their PhD under the supervision and guidance of our faculty.
Fostering Excellence Through Events and Engagement
The Department of Mathematics has always extended their contribution to the Mathematical academic and research community by organizing various events. The department has organized the 37th Annual Conference of the Ramanujan Mathematical Society and Mathematics Training and Talent Search Programme (MTTS) at regular intervals. The department also organizes international conferences, workshops and FDP’s periodically.
The Department of Mathematics acts as a platform for the students to exhibit and develop their interest and talents towards Mathematics. The Maths Club organises various intercollegiate events like ExLog, Math Quiz, National Mathematics Day and SSN Cube Open that cultivates students’ interest and passion in Mathematics.
