The Grand Finale of the NM-AU-Tncpl Hackathon, held during April 12-13, 2024 at the Madras Institute of Technology, Chennai. Out of the three teams representing our institution, two emerged victorious, securing prizes in this prestigious event.
The hackathon witnessed participation from the top 75 teams across the state, engaging in a rigorous 24-hour AI challenge. Our college’s teams showcased remarkable talent and dedication, reflecting the quality of education and training imparted at our institution.

In the PSGiTech Hackfest Hackathon, Team Yukthi demonstrated exceptional skills and dedication, securing the 7th position out of a staggering 556 participating teams. The team’s project, “Arivagam,” showcased a revolutionary online educational web platform under the theme of Smart Education. “Arivagam” is not merely a web platform; it symbolizes a vision for equal access to education, catering to diverse groups such as native speakers, typical students, individuals with dyslexia, and those with hearing impairments. The success in this event signifies the commitment of our students to providing accessible and fair learning opportunities for all.

Aruneeswaran K (IV Year IT) and Bharathan M (IV Year Mechanical) emerged as the Champions at Hackfest 2.0, a highly prestigious national-level hackathon hosted by SRMIST Vadapalani Campus in Chennai. The victory was nothing short of exhilarating, as the team proudly secured the top spot while representing SSN College of Engineering, competing against 60 other colleges. In recognition of achievement, the team was awarded a generous cash prize of Rs. 15,000, and also received some fantastic goodies courtesy of upGrad.
What truly stands out is the fact that throughout the entire competition, the team held onto the number one position in every shortlisting round, underscoring the consistent excellence and dedication.
One of the standout moments of the competition was the opportunity to integrate cutting-edge “#AR technology into a community engagement hub.” The project was designed with the aim of providing residents with an innovative and gamified platform to actively participate in sustainable practices. The victory at Hackfest 2.0 is a testament to the immense effort the team put in, their boundless creativity, and their impeccable teamwork. It has left the team brimming with pride and newfound motivation to continue their journey of pursuing innovative projects in the future.

Building on this momentum, Team Yukthi ventured into the VEC National Level Hackathon held in Telangana. Out of the 80 teams initially competing, only 15 progressed to the finals, and I am happy to announce that our team secured an outstanding 2nd place among these finalists. This achievement not only brought accolades but also a tangible reward—a memento and a cash prize of Rs. 15, 000.
The project presented in the VEC National Level Hackathon once again cantered around the theme of Smart Education. It showcased a visionary approach aimed at empowering housekeepers to facilitate improved learning opportunities for their children. This innovative perspective highlights our student’s team’s ability to think beyond conventional boundaries and address societal needs through technology.
Team Svasthya (Selcia S, Vasundhara B, Priyamvadha Pradeep, Sanjith Vikraman K R, Padhmapriya M and Narmatha R from III Year IT) secured a top 7 finalist position in the Grand Finale of SIH held during 19th and 20th December 2023 at GMRIT, Rajam, Andhra Pradesh under the Ministry of Ayush.
The team named “Hack’O’Holicss” comprising of Akshaya V, Anitha S, Devanathan N G, Keshav Balachandar, Abhinav S and Mayank Singh, II Year IT mentored by Mr. Saivignesh S and Mr. Ramkumar S (2018 Passed Out Alumni of IT Department) won the First Prize worth Rs. 1 lakh in Smart India Hackathon (SIH) 2019 held on March 2-3, 2019 at National Institute of Technology Surathkal, Karnataka.

Nusaiba Afsheen R of Final Year, Department of IT has become the recipient of the prestigious Richard E. Merwin Scholarship for Spring 2023. The current Chairperson of SSN IEEECS Student Branch Chapter will be receiving $1000 as a part of the scholarship and serve as the IEEECS Student Ambassadors for one year. This scholarship is bestowed to select few from across the world by IEEE Computer Society to recognize and rewards student leadership among active student volunteers in IEEE Student Branch or IEEE Computer Society Student Branch Chapters who also show promise through their academic and professional efforts
Aadhithya B Kailash, (2018-2022 Batch) won the Richard E. Merwin Student Scholarship worth USD1000 from the IEEE Computer Society, USA. This scholarship as offered in recognition of his exemplary involvement in student chapter activities, his excellent academic achievement, and willingness to act as a student ambassador.
Vishal has received the DAAD HSK scholarship in April 2019 and was sponsored a visit to Germany. The stay was for two months, which also gave him opportunities to visit other European countries. First Place – ByteCraft | AIoT Innovation Challenge – TantraFiesta 2023 – IIIT Nagpur – October 13, 2023
The RoboMeds team, composed of Mitul Krishna B (III Year IT) and Rohit Ram S (III Year CSE), mentored by Dr. K.S. Gayathri, Associate Professor, Department of IT actively participated in the ByteCraft | AIoT Innovation Challenge hosted at IIIT Nagpur’s TantraFiesta 2023 on October 13-14, 2023. The event brought together 93 teams from diverse institutions across India, fostering collaboration and exploration of advancements in Artificial Intelligence of Things (AIoT). It served as a platform for participants to showcase their skills and innovative projects.
Team RoboMeds presented two distinctive themes: “Revolutionizing rural spheres – Innovation in agriculture and healthcare” and “Enhancing urban lives through AI and IoT.” Choosing the latter, Team RoboMeds embraced the challenge to contribute to urban life through the integration of AI and IoT technologies.
Initial Round:
The Initial Round commenced with 93 participating teams showcasing their solutions and technical expertise. During this phase, teams were required to submit a comprehensive report encompassing the selected theme, providing a detailed exposition on the model’s purpose, construction, and operational mechanisms. Only 8 teams were selected from this round to proceed as finalists.
The Finals at IIIT Nagpur:
The grand finale took place on October 13, 2023, at IIIT Nagpur’s campus from 2 pm to 5 pm. The top 8 teams, including RoboMeds, presented the functional prototype in the AIoT domain, and a panel of jury members meticulously evaluated each project according to the specified scoring criteria.
Outcome: At the end of the competition, Team RoboMeds emerged victorious, securing the 1st prize with a cash award of Rs. 7, 500 /-. The ByteCraft event at TantraFiesta not only served as a platform for healthy competition but also contributed to the exploration and promotion of advancements in AIoT.
Project Overview:
The RoboMeds Pharmacy Automation System addresses the inefficiencies inherent in traditional pharmacy operations. Leveraging image processing technology and a scalable movement mechanism, the system minimizes wait times, reduces human errors, and enhances the overall customer experience.
Purpose: The primary goal of the project is to revolutionize pharmacy services by:
- Efficiency Enhancement: Automating the retrieval process to significantly reduce wait times.
- Error Minimization: Utilizing image processing technology to ensure accurate medicine retrieval and reduce the chances of human errors.
- Improved Customer Experience: Enhancing customer satisfaction through reduced wait times, real-time tracking, and interactive notifications.
- Operational Streamlining: Providing pharmacies with reduced overheads, improved inventory management, and the ability to serve more customers efficiently.
The project by Team RoboMeds exemplifies the potential of AIoT technologies to enhance urban living, particularly in the domain of pharmacy operations. The integration of image processing technology, QR codes, and automation streamlines processes, offering efficiency and accuracy in pharmaceutical services.

First Place – INNOVISION’24 – National Level Project Exhibition Venture – Rajalakshmi Engineering College
Winning in Cognizant’s BIG IDEA CHALLENGE
- Oviyaa and Renvitha of final year participated in the Cognizant BIG IDEA CHALLENGE and showcased their project titled “DROWSINESS AND FATIGUE DETECTION FOR BIKERS USING HELMET”. They won the Cognizant big idea challenge trophy of 2019 with a cash prize of 1 Lakh along with project mentorship. In the Idea Submission phase, around 1000 colleges had participated across India from which 40 teams have been selected. In the grand finale, they presented and demonstrated the project in front of cognizant dignitaries followed by Q&As.

Saravanan J (2020-2024 Batch) and his team won AIR 5 in international coding competition IEEEXSTEME 16.0
IEEEXtreme 13.0
IEEEXtreme is a global challenge in which teams of IEEE Student members compete in a 24-hour time span against each other to solve a set of programming problems. In its 13th Edition (IEEEXtreme 13.0), 4103 teams from around the globe participated. The team EnigMatrix with members Harrison Vijay J, Aadhithya B. Kailash, Akarvin Raja Prajan S A J from the II year of department of IT (2018-2022 Batch) participated in it. They were able to achieve the remarkable position at different levels. They were ranked 2nd in the regional, 15th in the national and 176th position in the global level.
Aashik Joel. M of III yr IT (2017-2021 Batch) has headed the Customer Experience and Design (Digital Video Production) at TEDx Chennai. He is also part of organizing team at Ink Salon, Chennai. He has organized the “Design Baba” workshop in many events.
Sports – Table Tennis
- Laasya Subramanayam, II Year represented Telangana State in junior girls at the UTT National Ranking Table Tennis Championships-2019 (North Zone) held at Sonepat, Haryana. She has represented SSN College of Engineering and won the University Team Championship Trophy in the Anna University Championship held at Abdul Hakeem College of Engineering. She was the Captain for Anna University Women’s Table Tennis Team at the South Zone Table Tennis Tournament held at KL University, Vijayawada. Also she has been selected to represent the Telangana State in the women’s category at the 81st Senior national &Inter-State table tennis championship to be held at Hyderabad.
Sports – Badminton
Priyadharshini of III Year IT has been part of the winning badminton team at national intercollege matches, BITs Hyderabad. She has also been part of the winning team at Kumaraguru Trophy, Coimbatore PITS Trophy, and Sastra Trophy, Thanjavur.
Sabesh Bharathi from Batch 2019 – 2023 and Karthik Raja TP from Batch 2020 – 2024 of the IT Department won Apple’s WWDC23 Swift Student Challenge.
The Prime Minister Shri. Narendra Modi graced the 42nd Convocation of Anna University in Chennai on July 29, 2022. Along with PM Shri. Narendra Modi, Shri R N Ravi, the Honorable Governor of Tamil Nadu, Shri. M K Stalin, the Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Shri L Murugun, Union Minister of State, Shri K Ponmudy, Minister for Higher Education of Tamil Nadu among others were present at the convocation.
During the ceremony, the PM addressed the audience and distributed the awards, medals and certificates to 69 gold medalists. Naveen S (2017-2021 Batch – B.Tech IT) of SSN College of Engineering, was awarded the First Rank and University Gold Medal in the Degree of Bachelor of Technology in Information Technology among 3821 candidates by our Honorable Prime Minister of India.

Yuvan Arvind, Sayeeshwar Kumar, Vedh Vijay and Nivas Muthu of 2019-2023 Batch who have founded “TickEth” – a Web3 startup which was selected for the first cohort of the Antler India Fellowship. Antler is a global early-stage VC enabling and investing in the world’s most exceptional people.
