M.E. Communication Systems: Top Rank Holders Since 2012

The students of M.E. Communication Systems has come out with flying colors in the Anna university examinations and secured top ranks. The list of rank holders since 2012 is enclosed in the following file.

The department of ECE encourages students to actively participate in internships offered by reputed industries and institutions. To facilitate this, MOUs are signed with corporates like TATA Elexsi, Alcatel Lucent and BIGCAT Wireless.

To motivate students to excel in studies and research, the management of SSN provides scholarships to meritorious students. For GATE candidates (in addition to AICTE stipend): are granted with

  • 1,00,000 scholarship for 90 & above percentile
  • 75,000 scholarship for 80 to 89 percentile

Mr. Nadin Naushad (PG-VSLI) of 2017-19 received scholarship for his outstanding work in academics.

Our post graduate students are actively involved in participating competitions organized by the state and the central government organizations.

  • Project titled “Galvanic Cell based energy harvesting system using sea water for underwater and fisheries application” under the guidance of Dr. S. Sakthivel Murugan, Asso. Prof. is accepted for demonstration in the Coimbatore Science and Technology festival. The system was demonstrated by Mr. B. Arun, II year/ME (CS) & Ms. D. Deepika, Final year/ECE in the Science & Technology festival held at Codissia Trade Fair Complex.
  • Team Members from ECE comprising the following students Mr. S. Praveen, II yr ME/VLSI Design, Mr. B. Arun Kumar, II yr ME/CS, Ms. M. Pratyusha, II yr ME/CS, Ms. M. Haarika, II yr ME/CS and Dr. R. Kishore, Asso. Prof. as Mentor won the Second prize (Cash Prize: Rs. 20,000) in HackICAV’18 – A Hackathon on IoT Cloud Analytics and Visualization, organized by IIIT Kottayam, ROLTA Foundation, AIC-IIIT Kottayam, IEEE & ACM held at Lucknow during January 2019.

Research Excellence at SSN: Funded Projects and Innovations

The department has acquired projects from several national agencies such as DST, AICTE, NIOT, BRNS, ISRO, IGCAR, Tamilnadu Forrest Department, AICRP, etc. As of 2020, the department has completed 21 projects worth Rs.3.63 crore and is currently executing 9 projects worth Rs. 2.7 crore. ECE Department: Conferences, Workshops and Seminars

The department’s annual conference WISPNET technically co-sponsored by IEEE is a mega event which hosts keynote addresses from eminent researchers and academicians across the globe. To meet the needs of the local community the department organizes a national conference called NCICT every year which is the culmination of delegates from various levels including IITs and NIT. To provide hands-on training on software and hardware, the department of ECE regularly conducts workshops for PG students. The department of ECE encourages students to go beyond academics, industrial visits are organized to understand the practical perspective of the workplace. Every year the students accompanied by a faculty member visit various industries. The following is the list of companies visited by our students.

  • Nandhini A of ME VLSI visited the Society for Electronic Transaction and Security, Taramani, Chennai on 14-02.2020.
  • M.E students (All Branches) of 2018-20 batch visited Indian Telecom Industries (ITI), Bangalore during February 2019.
  • M.E Students (All Branches) of 2017-19 batch visited National Atmospheric Research Laboratory (NARL), Tirupati during March 2018.
  • M.E Students (All Branches) of 2016-18 visited Radio Astronomy center, Ooty during Novemebr, 2017
  • M.E Communication Systems students of 2015-17 batch visited News-7 Channel to understand the broadcasting nuances on 20.08.2016.
  • M.E (CS and AE) students of 2015-17 batch visited Ennore Thermal Power Station on 02.03.2016.

Generally placement is SSN is good and it is the same for PG students also. The students are placed in top MNCs like Intel, Microchip, QUALCOMM, Sameer, Tata Communications, Alcatel -Lucent, TCS, Infosys, HCL, CTS, Valeo etc. Apart from placement PG students are interested in pursuing higher studies and research. In this regard, our students are in various Indian and foreign universities like Florida International University – USA, University of Catania – Italy, Aalto University Finland, IITs, IIITDM, NIT, SSNCE, Anna University etc. Many of our PG students interested in taking teaching profession and are placed and are well settled in in Government, Self – financing, Deemed to be Universities across various states in India.

Exclusive training on competitive question paper solving is provided by the Carrier development Cell of our Institute. Apart from this, core technology based training is provided to the PG students for 80 hours. Recently for the past two years, CCNA certification courses training is provided in the campus itself with the collaboration of Dynamic Networks Pvt, Ltd., Chennai. Students who took this training were placed before their certification exams and this have helped to acquire job from good core companies too. Few students are continuing in taking advanced training on certification which proves the quality of training provided for PG students.

Additionally, a program on “A day with Alumni for Future Alumni” is conducted by the department for the past three years continuously exclusively for the PG students. This program is a full day interaction session between present PG students with PG alumni in various sectors like core industries, software, banking, civil service, young entrepreneur etc. Through this forum, the PG students are provided information on real expectations of Industry, technical knowledge requirement, Communication skills required, Internship offers, GATE exam preparation, admission process in IITs, research opportunities available in India and abroad, placement opportunities and many more. PG alumni also give hands on experience by mock interviews.
