Dr. V. Kamaraj, Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at SSN, brings 34 years of teaching and research experience. He holds a B.Tech. in Electrical Engineering from Calicut University, an M.E. in Power Electronics and a Ph.D. in Networks from Anna University, Chennai.
With extensive publications in international and national journals and conferences, he has made significant contributions to the field. Before joining SSN in 2006, he served at Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering (1989–2006), rising through various academic positions.
He has led funded research projects and collaborated with industries on innovative initiatives. A recipient of prestigious awards like the ISTE Periyar Award, Best Engineering College Teacher Award and IET Diamond Salute Award (2014), he has successfully guided 15 Ph.D. scholars and is currently mentoring one more. His research interests include Power Quality, Machine Design and Power Converter Topologies.
- He is the principal investigator for the project titled “Design and Development of Permanent Magnet Assisted Reluctance Motor Drives for Pump Application”, funded by the Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) worth Rs 21,18,978(Duration: 2019-2022)
- He is the principal investigator for the project titled “Artificial Intelligence Techniques to Design and Development of Power Quality Monitoring System”, funded by the Ministry of Human Resource Development(MHRD) under the scheme SPARC worth Rs 50,53,816/- (Duration: 2023-2025)
