Computer Science Engineering at SSN

The Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE), established in 1996, has been dedicated to delivering high-quality computer science education to students from across India and beyond, fostering innovation and excellence in the field. Offering both undergraduate (B.E. CSE) and postgraduate (M.E. CSE) programs, the department has consistently maintained academic rigor and industry relevance.

 Recognised as a Centre for Research by Anna University in 2006, the department provides opportunities for doctoral studies (Ph.D.). The B.E. (CSE) program was reaccredited by the NBA in 2021, while the M.E. (CSE) program earned its accreditation in 2016. Equipped with state-of-the-art laboratories, research facilities with high-speed computing systems, Wi-Fi-enabled smart classrooms with laptops and projectors, a well-equipped seminar hall, a conference hall and a well-stocked department library, the department ensures a holistic and research-driven learning environment.

Infrastructure

Advanced Computing Laboratories: Empowering Innovation in Machine Learning and Big Data Research

The department is well equipped with diversified laboratories comprising ten dedicated laboratories for the undergraduate students, three dedicated laboratories for the Postgraduate students installed with a variety of software catering to the curricular needs of the students and four Research labs with cutting-edge hardware for working in the areas of Machine Learning and Distributed Big Data Systems. A state-of-the-art Boston 128GB GPU Server with 2 nVIDIA Tesla V100 GPU (32 GB) is also available for pursuing research work.

To conduct seminars covering the latest developments and trends in the field of Computer Science, the department has a fully equipped seminar hall with a seating capacity of 120.

It comprises of one Overhead Projector, one LCD projector, a dedicated Laptop, 29″ Color Television and a Public Addressing System.

To conduct project reviews and research discussions for progress of research, the department has a conference hall with a desktop and Television with a seating capacity of 20.

Each classroom is furnished with an Overhead Projector, one LCD projector, and a dedicated Laptop to support the e-Learning process. The classrooms are Wi-Fi enabled to support the e-Learning Initiative.

The department library located in a dedicated and spacious room has more than 1000 books covering a wide range of subjects and several Journals that include ACM Transactions on Database Systems, Software Engineering and Methodology, Operating Systems and Programming Languages, ACM Computing Surveys, International Journal for Neural Systems and Computational Intelligence and Applications, Software Engineering notes, Operating System review, Computer Communication review and Computer Architecture news.

Placements

The department is keen about inculcating the employability skills for the students to succeed in landing dream job offers. A Mock placement drive for the III year students is organized every year to give an experience of real placement drives. For the past several years, our students have been placed in top companies like MotorQ, Adobe, Paypal, Amazon, Media.net, eBay, Equinix, Google, Avalara.
