Research
The department has been recognized as a research department under Anna University, Chennai, since 2006. It provides a platform for students to pursue Ph.D. and M.S. (by Research) programs. The research expertise of our faculty spans Rough Set Theory, Algebra, Graph Theory, Image Processing, Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Fuzzy Stochastic Processes, Fuzzy Graph Theory, Queuing Theory, Functional Analysis, Stochastic Processes, Neural Networks, Sampling Theory and Wavelet Analysis, Topology, and Big Data Analytics. 33 students have been awarded Ph.D. degree under our guidance, and more than 30 are currently pursuing their research.
Projects
Our department has contributed to the institution by securing funds from various agencies, including IKS (₹2.25 lakh), DST-SSTP (₹49.99 lakh), and the Ministry of Earth Sciences (₹48.16 lakh). Additionally, funding was received from TNSCST for a student project worth ₹15,000. In 2023, the Department of Mathematics, in collaboration with the Department of Mechanical Engineering, received the DST-FIST project with a grant of ₹57 lakh. Our faculty members also inspire undergraduate students to engage in research, leading to publications in reputed indexed journals.
