Dr. S. Karthika, Associate Professor, in the Department of Information Technology has over 16 years of teaching and 1.5 years of exclusive research experience.

Educations

She received a B.E (CSE) degree from Avinashilingam University and completed her M.E (CSE) from Anna University. She has earned her Ph.D. degree under the Faculty of Information and Communication Engineering from Anna University.

Research

To her credit she has 80+ research articles and delivered around 20 keynote talks in her research domain of computational science using AI. She heads the AI for Social Good (AISG) and Cyber Security Working Group (CSWG). She is currently executing DST funded CSRI project for worth about 20 lakhs for developing a teaching learning framework for Bharatanatyam using AI. She has also completed projects worth 4.1 lakhs from TNSCST and seed funding of 14 lakhs from SSN Trust. She has executed 2 consultancies worth 7 lakhs and has published 1 US Patent.

Outreach Activities

She has organized 3 International conferences, ATAL FDP, ACM Summer School and 25+ other activities in association with IEEE, CSI and relevant industries.

Teaching

  • She adapts active learning elements (ALE) and outcome-based teaching methodology in the subjects like programming and design patterns, data analytics, machine learning, deep learning techniques, data structures, database, operating system and data warehousing and data mining.

Responsibilities & Recognitions

She has played many vitals roles as an academician and researcher by serving as Board of Studies (BoS), Doctoral Committee member and reviewer for reputed International and National journals and conferences. She is a recipient of UGC BSR Fellowship, Teacher Par Excellence awards and Intel oneAPI Innovator. She is an active ACM and Senior IEEE member. She is an ardent admirer of Indian dance and music art forms.

Membership

  • She is a member of professional societies, including ACM, IEEE and ISTE. She is the co-ordinator of the Cyber Security Working Group (CSWG) under the Department of IT.

As PI she has received three faculty funded projects from SSN Trust worth 10.25 Lakhs and as Co-PI has bagged a project under TNSCST worth 4.5 Lakhs.
