K. R. Uthayan has 29 years of teaching experience, 2 years of industrial experience and 5 years of research exclusively in the field of Semantic Web, Ontology Engineering and machine learning. His ambition is to develop machine learning applications through research.
Uthayan obtained his PhD from the faculty of Information and Communication, Anna University. He also has an M.E in software engineering from the same university.

He is the recognized coach for The ACM- International Collegiate Programming Contest (ACM- ICPC) from 2006 onwards. He is also a recognized faculty by National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN) for teaching Entrepreneurship in NEN recognized member Institutions across the country.
- Received the Teacher par Excellence awards from SSN Trust for the academic years 2005-2006, 2006-2007, 2007-2008, 2009-2010, 2010-2011, 2011-2012, 2012-2013 and 2015-2016 to his credit.
- Received 3 best paper awards for his research papers presented in IEEE sponsored International conferences.
