Dr. M. MAHALAKSHMI is currently working as an Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry, SSN College of Engineering, Chennai since 2007, after completing one year in Jeppiaar Engineering college, Chennai as a lecturer. She has total of 14 years teaching experience. She graduated from Madurai Kamaraj University in 1993 as the best out-going student. She obtained her postgraduate degree in General Chemistry from Madurai Kamaraj University in 1995 and her Ph.D. degree from Department of Chemistry, Anna University, Chennai in 2007.
Her area of research expertise is photocatalytic nanomaterials for energy and environmental studies. She is currently working on photocatalytic degradation of organic pollutants, photocatalytic hydrogen production and quantum dot solar cells. She has 14 reputed international journal publications for her credit. She has presented 18 papers in National and International conferences. She is a life member in the Catalysis Society of India and Chemical Research Society of India. She is a potential reviewer for many reputed international journals. At present, she is guiding Ph.D. scholars and also undergraduate students in their research endeavours. She completed one DST project and one (SSN Institutions) Internally Funded Faculty Project. She is currently working on one Internally Funded Faculty Project and three Internally Funded Students Projects.
