Qualification
Dr.S.Saranya, Assistant professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering has about 10 years of teaching and research experience at Anna University and a short industry experience from Cognizant Technology Solutions Pvt. Ltd. She received her professional degrees, B.E. in Biomedical Engineering in 2008, M.E and PhD degree in Medical Electronics in 2010 and 2021 respectively from Anna University.
Research
Dr.Saranya’s PhD research is in the area of Biomedical Signal Processing and machine learning. Her research involves development of EMG based algorithm for muscle strength evaluation and grading for functional assessment of musculoskeletal disorders. Dr.Saranya is a recognized supervisor (Ref no. 4190032) from Anna University for guiding PhD and M.S. (by research) under the faculty of Electronics and Communication Engineering.
Her current research interests are Biomedical signal processing, Kinesiology and Human Movement Science, Musculoskeletal Modeling and Machine learning.

- Represented Anna University to pursue her postgraduate project on the development of a novel control algorithm for External Counterpulsation at Defence Bioengineering and Electromedical Laboratory, DRDO (Government of India), Bengaluru.
- Won the Best Project and Model Prototype award for undergraduate project titled Automated Wheelchair Using Head Movements sponsored by Tamil Nadu state council for Science and Technology.
