Dr. S. Pravin Kumar – Associate Professor

Dr. S. Pravin Kumar, Associate Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering, SSN College of Engineering has 18 years of teaching and research experience, including 3 years of Post-doctoral research experience with Dr. Jan Svec, Inventor of the High-speed Videokymogram, at Palacký University Olomouc, Czech Republic in the field of biomedical signal and image processing.
He received B.E. degree in Electronics and Instrumentation, from Manonmaniam Sundaranar University. He completed M. Tech in Biomedical Engineering, from Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT), Manipal. He earned his Ph.D. from Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad.
His PhD involved developing signal processing and artificial neural network (ANN) methods for automated epileptic detection from EEG signals. His post-doctoral work involved in developing signal and image processing, and 2D and 3D visualization methods to analyze the vocal fold disorders from the high-speed videokymographic images.
He is currently working on developing computer vision, augmented reality and Extended Reality solutions for the surgical support, rehabilitation and healthcare equipment training simulation systems, IOT and deep learning solutions for human and Animal Health monitoring.
He is part of developing AR/VR lab, voice research lab, diagnostic and therapeutic lab, biomedical instrumentation lab, and data acquisition and processing lab at SSN.
Research
Dr. S. Pravin Kumar is the recognized research supervisor (Ref. No: 2540029) of Anna University for guiding PhD and M.S. (by research) under the faculty of Information and Communication Engineering.
His present research interests include Biomedical signal and image processing, Biomechanics, 3D modeling, medical instrumentation, medical data analytics, machine learning, artificial neural network, deep learning, etc.,
