Dr. N. Venkateswaran – Professor

Venkateswaran is a Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering and coordinator for the activities of the quality assurance cell (IQAC) of Sri Sivasubramaniya Nadar College of Engineering, Chennai, India. He obtained his PhD from Anna University, Chennai in information and Communication Engineering and earlier obtained his MTech degree in the department of Electronics and Communication Engineering from Pondicherry University. He has more than 27 years of experience in teaching and research in addition to 6 years of Industry experience. His research interests are Image and Signal Processing, Biomedical signal processing, Deep Learning, Machine Learning, Wireless communication, and Photonics system design. He has authored or co-authored over 120 papers in National and International Journals and Conferences. He has organized and conducted a number of faculty development Programs. He has attended more than 20 conferences and 25 faculty development programs. He was awarded the best teacher during the year 2021-2022. He successfully mentored a team of students to the first price in Smart India Hackathon 2022.
As a professional member of IEEE for more than a decade, He has been an active volunteer in Madras Chapter of IEEE Signal Processing Society SPS since 2017. He is the current chair of the IEEE Signal Processing Society, Madras Chapter India. He earlier served as the secretary of the IEEE Signal Processing Society, Madras Chapter India from the year 2017. He has been involved in organizing several major national conferences and he was the organizing chair of Wispnet 2021. He is a member of the doctoral committee for many Scholars from various Universities. He is a member of the IEEE technical committee on integrated sensing and communication, since 2021. He has invited many and organized many IEEE SPS distinguished lecture programs since 2017 for promoting signal Processing Education.
He has delivered invited talks at various faculty development programs and institutions across the country. He has chaired a technical session at the IEEE TENCON 2016, Singapore. He has also Chaired a technical session at the 53rd IETE Mid Term Symposium (MTS) – On 5G & Beyond: Technologies & Applications, 2022 at Kathmandu, Nepal.

He is a senior member of IEEE (S-91165099), Fellow of IETE, and Life member of ISTE. He has been the chairman of IETE Chennai Centre during the period 2020 – 2022. Currently, he is the Chair of IEEE Signal Processing Society, Madras Section. He is also a member of the IEEE Photonics Society.

He has published over 120 research publications in refereed international journals and in proceedings of international conferences. As a principal investigator He has completed a project titled “Development of fusion algorithms for remotely sensed satellite images in cartographic applications” funded by SAC, Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) during Dec 2019 – Sep 2022. He is a recognized supervisor of Anna University and currently guiding Four Ph.D. scholars. He is a research supervisor in the Field of Image and Signal Processing, Biomedical signal processing, Deep Learning, Machine Learning, Wireless communication, and Photonics system design.
