Dr. S. Kavitha, Associate Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering has 23 years of teaching and research experience. She received her Ph.D. in Computer Science (2016) from Anna University, Chennai, M.E. in CSE (2006) from Anna University with first class and distinction and B.E. in CSE (1997) from Madras University with first class. In her research she worked on “Classification and Understanding of Multimodality Brain Images using Machine Learning Techniques”. She guided projects in various domains includes: Bio-Informatics, Data Mining, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and Image Analysis in Digital and Medical Images for Under Graduate and Post Graduate students. She successfully completed many projects along with students of higher classes and first year students, which are funded by SSN Institutions. At present, Four Research Scholars are doing Ph.D. under her guidance in “Federated Learning with XAI, Visual Question Answering, Remote Sensing Image analysis and EEG Signal Analysis, Compound Emotion detection and Classification” etc.
She has authored several books including Theory of Computation, Design and Analysis of Algorithms, Data Structures and Artificial Intelligence. She has taken classes for the trainees at IGCAR on “Artificial Intelligence” during the period April 2008 and May 2009. She has given guest lectures on “Theory of Computation”, “Design and Analysis of Algorithms”, “Artificial Intelligence” and “Medical Image Classification Techniques” etc.. She has received “Best Teacher Award” from SSN College of Engineering for the period 2006 – 2007, 2008 – 2009, 2010 – 2011 & 2011 – 2012. In addition, she received a Massively Empowered Classroom (MEC) Faculty Champion award in August 2014 for Design and Analysis of Algorithms course, initiated by Microsoft Research. She has published about 50 research publications in international journals and in proceedings of international conferences.
