Dr. P. Saravanan – Associate Professor

Dr. P. Saravanan, Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, has 15 years of teaching experience and 4 years of industrial experience.
Education
He gained his bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics from GCT, Bharathidasan University. He completed masters in Embedded System Technologies from CEG, Anna University. He earned his Ph.d degree in Electrical engineering from Anna University, Chennai. During his research work, he developed various intelligent control algorithms for speed control of the Switched Reluctance Motor (SRM) drive. He explored the implementation of the control algorithm over a broad range of embedded processors (FPGA, DSP, and ARM controllers).
Industrial Experience
He worked as a trainee in Kancheepuram Electricity Distribution Circle (KEDC), TNEB, over one year, and gained eligibility for an ‘A’ license. He also worked in “Southern Safety Systems”, for 11KV Transformer Commissioning and Maintenance.
Research
He has published over 18 research publications in the refereed journals and in proceedings of international conferences. He has received seed money of Rs. 5.5 lakhs from DST-SERB. Currently, he is working on the project titled, “Design & Development of Axial Flux Switched Reluctance Motor based battery-operated vehicle”, with the grant of Rs.36,26,000 from DST-SERB. His areas of research include Special Electrical Machines, Intelligent computing, Real-time Embedded System design and Automotive Electronics.
