Dr. Mrunal Deshpande – Associate Professor

EEE

- She received her B.E (EEE) degree from Nagpur University, M.E. Applied Electronics and Ph.D. in the field of Electrical Engineering from Anna University.
- Her research work is based on non-linear control system and electromechanical systems. Her areas of interest include Applications of Magnetic Levitation, Non-linear Control Systems, Electrical Machines and Drives, Power Electronics, Bifacial and peroskite solar cells
- She has published over 50 research publications in refereed International Journals and in proceedings of National and International Conferences in the area of Electromagnetic’s, Power electronics, Control Systems, Machines and Solar cells etc with one paper in a National conference as the best paper.
- Dr Mrunal Deshpande as PI and Dr Govindaraj R, SSNRC (co- PI) have an ongoing External funded project titled Development of black phase Formamidinium lead triiodide-based hybrid perovskite light absorber with improved thermal stability for solar cell applications. This project was sanctioned on 22/03/2023 under the funding agency UGC DAE CSR
- She as a Principal investigator has completed an internally funded project titled, “Fabrication of Bi-Facial Dye Sensitized Solar Cells Using Conducting Transparent Counter Electrodes” funded by SSN College of Engineering Chennai for 4.85 lakhs. 2020-2022
- Dr. Mrunal Deshpande was one of the Investigators for the project titled “A Robustly Optimal Energy Management System for High PVpenetrated Smart Cities with A Case Study: Implementation of PVs for Smart Street Light Poles”. This was University of New South Wales Sydney Australia (UNSW) -India Collaborative project sponsored by Research Seed Fund 2018 UNSW Sydney. It was in collaboration with UNSW Australia, IITM and SSNCE. She represented SSNCE. This one year project was completed in July 2019.
- In this regard she was invited to attend a workshop at UNSW Australia. She also participated in the round table discussion held at UNSW Sydney for UNSW India collaboration project coordinators. Also presented the research progress at workshop during May 2019.
- She as a principal co-ordinator has also successfully completed a project “Design and implementation of switched reluctance motor drive with minimum torque ripples”. The project was funded by SSNCE.
- The research scholars under her guidance are working in areas of Bifacial and peroskite solar cells and supercapacitors and UGstudents under her are working on various areas which include production of hydrogen using water splitting, levitation of human cells, normal and PV based switched reluctance motors : its converters and controllers, bearing-less motors and also deregulated power system.
- She has to her credit two best teacher awards. She is an active member of IEEE and recognised supervisor of Anna University to guide Ph.D students.
- She has authored a book on Special Electrical Machines.

- Investigator for UNSW-India Collaborative Research Seed Fund 2018 sponsored project in collaboration with IITM and UNSW Australia, titled “A Robustly Optimal Energy Management System for High PV‐Penetrated Smart Cities with A Case Study: Implementation of PVs for Smart Street Light Poles”. - Principle investigator for internally funded project titled, “Design and development switched reluctance motor drive with torque ripples” funded by SSN College of Engineering Chennai for 3.85 lakhs( 2016-2018. Completed)
