UNDER-GRADUATE PROGRAMME:

B.E. ELECTRICAL AND ELECTRONICS ENGINEERING:

PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEOS)

PEO1: Graduates of the programme will have successful career by their ability to contribute in the electrical and electronics engineering or related professional fields.

PEO2: Graduates of the programme can work in teams with technical competencies, discharging their professional and social responsibilities.

PEO3: Graduates of the programme will exhibit demonstrable attributes in lifelong learning to contribute to their chosen professional field.

PROGRAMME OUTCOMES (POs)

After the successful completion of the B.E. Electrical and Electronics Engineering degree programme, the students should be able to:

PO1.Engineering knowledge: Apply the knowledge of mathematics, science, engineering fundamentals, and an engineering specialization to the solution of complex engineering problems.

PO2.Problem analysis: Identify, formulate, review research literature, and analyze complex engineering problems reaching substantiated conclusions using first principles of mathematics, natural sciences, and engineering sciences.

PO3.Design/development of solutions: Design solutions for complex engineering problems and design system components or processes that meet the specified needs with appropriate consideration for the public health and safety, and the cultural, societal, and environmental considerations.

PO4.Conduct investigations of complex problems: Use research – based knowledge and research methods including design of experiments, analysis and interpretation of data, and synthesis of the information to provide valid conclusions.

PO5.Modern tool usage: Create, select, and apply appropriate techniques, resources, and modern engineering and IT tools including prediction and modeling to complex engineering activities with an understanding of the limitations.

PO6. The engineer and society: Apply reasoning informed by the contextual knowledge to assess societal, health, safety, legal and cultural issues and the consequent responsibilities relevant to the professional engineering practice.

PO7. Environment and sustainability: Understand the impact of the professional engineering solutions in societal and environmental contexts, and demonstrate the knowledge of, and need for sustainable development.

PO8. Ethics: Apply ethical principles and commit to professional ethics and responsibilities and norms of the engineering practice.

PO9. Individual and team work: Function effectively as an individual, and as a member or leader in diverse teams, and in multidisciplinary settings.

PO10.Communication: Communicate effectively on complex engineering activities with the engineering community and with society at large, such as, being able to comprehend and write effective reports and design documentation, make effective presentations, and give and receive clear instructions.

PO11. Project management and finance: Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of the engineering and management principles and apply these to one’s own work, as a member and leader in a team, to manage projects and in multidisciplinary environments.

PO12.Life-long learning: Recognize the need for, and have the preparation and ability to engage in self, and lifelong learning in the broadest context of technological change.

PROGRAMME SPECIFIC OUTCOMES (PSOs)

After the successful completion of the B.E. Electrical and Electronics Engineering degree programme, Graduate will have the ability to:

PSO1: To apply advanced science and engineering knowledge to analyse and design complex electrical and electronic devices, software and systems containing hardware and software components.

PSO2: To design and analyze systems used in advanced power applications, renewable energy, electrical drives for the transportation, manufacturing industries and in allied technical fields.

POST-GRADUATE PROGRAMME:

M.E. (POWER ELECTRONICS & DRIVES) :

PROGRAMME EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEO)

PEO 1: Career Development: Graduates will have technical knowledge, skills and analytical ability to design, develop and test power electronic converters and drives using modern tools.

PEO 2: Social and ethical responsibilities: Graduates will have skills and knowledge in the field of power electronics and drives to improve the system performance and to relate social, ethical, economic and environmental dimensions.

PEO 3: Life-long learning: Graduates will have confidence to conduct research, take up higher studies and life-long learning in the field of power electronics and drives.

PROGRAMME OUTCOMES (POS)

At the end of the programme, the graduates will achieve the following attributes:

  • 1.Demonstrate in-depth knowledge of power electronics and drives
  • 2.Capability to identify and formulate research concepts by effective literature survey and using first principles of mathematics
  • 3.Ability to analyse power electronics and drives related engineering problems and undertake research independently
  • 4.Ability to offer creative and innovative solutions of engineering problems that are inconformity with social and environmental factors.
  • 5.Ability to contribute to the development of technical knowledge in power electronics applications through analysis, design and experimentation.
  • 6.Ability to use modern engineering and IT tools to solve complex engineering problems.
  • 7.Ability to conduct collaborative multidisciplinary research through teamwork in order to achieve common objectives.
  • 8.Capability to independently propose and undertake engineering projects in power electronics applications considering economical aspects.
  • 9.Ability to communicate effectively in appropriate technical forums
  • 10.Ability to update knowledge and skills through lifelong learning.
  • 11.Follow ethical practices in professional career for sustainable development of society.
  • 12.Subject oneself to introspection and take voluntary remedial measures.
