E-Week 2010
 

LAKSHYA , The SSN ENTREPRENEURIAL DEVELOPEMENT CELL keeps up with the long last tradition of being the number one private engineering college by celebrating "ENTREPRENEURSHIP WEEK" every year during the month of February under the guidance of the National Entrepreneurship Network (NEN).

This year LAKSHYA planned the E WEEK 2010 -- "VIBHAV" celebrations on a grand scale from February 6th - 13th . A week long extravaganza which was marked by an array of exciting events to promote awareness and encourage entrepreneurship as a way of life with special emphasis on the theme " INDIA : OPPORTUNITIES WITHIN" . A host of meaningful and thrilling events were conducted both on and off our campus which sent the Chennai student community into a frenzy of excitement !

VIBHAV was spread across a span of 7 days with more than 30 exhilarating events , attracted students from 100+ colleges all over Chennai and was the talk of the town in it's own unique way ! With radio partners such as Chennai Live 104.8 FM and media partners like NDTV Hindu and mentors such as NEN , VIBHAV just rocked !

Here are the list of events which took place.

6.2.2010 : Saturday

DISCOVER OPPORTUNITIES SIGNATURE CAMPAIGN at various locations across Chennai. It was just a public awareness on opportunities in the field of health care, waste management and tourism in India . Around 100 students from our college participated in this campaign.

RURAL EMPOWERMENT CAMPAIGN was conducted by eminent speakers and students of SSNCE. Students of SSNCE and the speakers taught innovative agricultural techniques to the villagers. This was followed by an interactive session of the farmers with the experts. Around 30 students participated and it was conducted by Mr.Pashupathinathan and Mrs.Sharadha Venkat - founders of "Adhyantha Sadhana" , a company that trains people in entrepreneurship and other soft skills.

AVASAR - A RALLY ON ELLIOTS BEACH TO PROMOTE OPPORTUNITIES IN INDIA . S tudents of SSNCE created public awareness on untapped opportunities available within our country. Around 250 students from our college participated.

RADIO AWARENESS CAMPAIGN Opportunities in education , media were spoken about on air by our radio sponsors Chennai Live.

CAR CAMPAIGN ACROSS CHENNAI E cell members went around the city on cars holding out banners promoting opportunities in the field of dance and music. Around 50 students participated.

07.02.2010 : Sunday :

VU JA DE!! "A city-wide activity which unearthed several opportunities in various locations.

Sixty Teams consisting of 3 members made up students, e-cell members as well as working professionals went to a minimum of 6 different crowded locations and perfored 6 different activities each related to a particular opportunity and field. We creating awareness about untapped opportunities in the field of health care, textiles, waste management, water purification and media.

08.02.2010: Monday:

Inauguration - was attended by Mr.Sudeep Jain Spl officer, Institute of Entrepreneurship development, Govt of Tamil Nadu. Mr.Balasubramanium from CTS. Ms.Chinmayi, Singer, Entrepreneur. A talk on opportunities in the government sector and the field the government is looking to fund. A talk to encourage women to take up entrepreneurship as a career. A Video bringing forth the views of people from different parts of the world on what they think are the opportunities in India . A video about Y entrepreneurship and what opportunities we have" - Y??? Talk on Opportunities in the IT industry by one of the pioneers of IT industry by Dr.Shiv Nadar, HCL technologies.

Animation Workshop Exploring untapped opportunities in the field of animation. Around 100 students participated.

Uncut-Short film making promoting opportunities in film making and promoting other opportunities through short films. Around 100 students participated.

Start-up Showcase show-casing success stories, innovations in different field . These were the startups

09.02.2010: Tuesday:

Panel Discussion by Women Entrepreneurs

Awareness about the opportunities for women entrepreneurs.

Here are the list of entrepreneurs

1.Mrs.Hemu Ramaiah, MD, shop4solutions Pvt Ltd, Founder and ex CEO Landmark 2.Mrs.Anu Chandran, Management Professional, Independent Non-profit organisation 3.Rajitha Reddy, Cotton City retail store, Entrepreneur 4.Ms.M.Hemalatha,Managing Director,Sree Vishnu Magnetics Private Limited.

Business quiz

Tests the participant's knowledge of opportunities within India . Participants got to showcase their knowledge in the field of management by answering mind boggling questions. Around 20 teams participated.

Printer Circuit Board Workshop - Technopreneurship

Awareness about the opportunities present in the electronics field such as PCB design. It was conducted by final year students. Around 300 students participated.

Junkyard Junkies

An activity which highlighted waste management.

The judges were

Mr.Joe Louis Paul, Faculty, Information Technology Department, SSNCE

Mr.R.Leo, Faculty, Electornics and Engineering Department, SSNCE.

Around 20 teams participated.

NDTV Hindu talk show

A live talk show about the various opportunities within in our country. It was anchored by Mr.S.Ramanathan, NDTV Hindu Reporter. Thousands of people all over Tamil Nadu watched this show.

10.02.2010: Wednesday:

Ideastorm workshop

Opportunity evaluation workshop comprising ideastorming and problem identification. It was conducted by Mr.Dorai Thodla,founder of iMorph California . Around 200 students participated.

Defy B-plan Competition :

Platform to explore the industry defined problems and to resolve them.

It was conducted by M.Sriraman. Former president of TIE. Around 10 teams participated.

IPL 2.0

An activity which highlighted money management under real time pressure. It was conducted by

Dr.Sumanth P Raman, Paediatrician and well known quizzer. Around 50 teams participated.

Talk on opportunities in the field of sports by V.B Chandrasekar

Interactive session on the opportunities aplenty in the field of sports. Around 300 students participated in this event.

11.02.2010 : Thursday:

Personality development workshop by Mr.Shridhar Sampath from Dubai .

Shridhar Sampath inculcated good virtues like optimism,determination and perseverance in students through his inspirational speech. Emphasis was laid on discovering the hidden talents within oneself. Around 200 students participated.

Talk on opportunities within oneself by Mr.Bennett

This interactive session was conducted by Mr.Bennett, Principal , Vels Institute of Hotel Management. Around 300 students participated.

Crazy Bazaar

Activity to test students about the nuances of dynamically priced FMCG's.

Every team was expected to guess the cost of the product given to them. It enabled the students gain more knowledge about the current market scenario. Around 100 teams participated.

12.02.2010: Friday:

Bring out opportunities in painting

Around 10 teams participated.

Bring out opportunities in photography

Around 30 teams participated.

Blogosphere

Opportunities in the field of blogging

Around 20 students participated.

Bears and Bulls

Opportunities in the Stock Market by an interactive online share trading game.

Around 30 students partipated

To Spread awareness about the importance of wildlife conservation and opporunities in the same - Opportunities in Wildlife Conservation. It was conducted by Dr.K.Sankar,Professor and research Coordinator,Wildlife Institute of India , Dehradun. It was attended by around 200 students.

Valedictory Function

Members of the SSN Lakshya went to Bangalore on 14.02.2010 and we got the Crystal trophy and a certificate for being the National Runners up in E-Week India. Two faculty members accompanied us.
