Sports at SSN

The SSN College of Engineering pursues excellence in sports. Our college has the right infrastructure for developing growing talents and sports personalities. The sports infrastructure comprises facilities for indoor and outdoor games. There are well-groomed outdoor play fields for Cricket, Football, Tennis, Basketball, Volleyball, Athletics etc. We have an International standard indoor stadium for Basketball, Badminton, Table tennis, Squash racket, and well – equipped gym for boys and girls. The department of Physical Education functions actively throughout the year from 5.30 am to 7.00 pm everyday. It works under the guidance of the Physical director with the assistance of Physical training instructor.

The college has an impressive record of performance in National and International level sporting events. Every year Sports persons are honoured and encouraged with sports quota admissions, cash awards and scholarships. We spot out budding and interested sports persons and train them with the much needed encouragement. With each passing year, our college has introduced more and more sports persons.

Sports Quota and Scholarship

Students who have represented the National and International level tournaments for the following games and sports are eligible to apply for the sports quota admissions and sports scholarships.

Athletics, Basketball, Badminton, Cricket, Chess, Table tennis, Lawn tennis and squash Racket.

Annual Sports Activities

• College Teams Selection.

• College teams practice and residential coaching camp during the tournaments.

• Participation in Anna University zonal and inter zonal tournaments.

• Participation in South Zone and All India inter university tournaments.

• Participation in invitational inter - collegiate tournaments.

• Participation in Tamil Nadu Inter Engineering Sports (TIES) meet.

• Conducting the college annual sports day.

• Organizing the SSN Rolling Trophy.

About SSN Rolling Trophy

The SSN Rolling Trophy was introduced in the year 2003. The tournament was held at state level amongst the Engineering colleges for Basket Ball, Badminton and Table Tennis under men & women’s category. The topmost colleges in Tamilnadu have participated in this tournament.

From the 6^thSSN Rolling Trophy 2008, the tournament has become a National level tournament in which cricket and Tennis for men have been included. Apart from Rolling Trophies and individual prizes cash awards are also awarded for the first time.
