Year 2010:

• A project proposal submitted by Dr. Chitra Babu titled "Novel SOA Transaction Frameworks for e-Governance Applications" has been approved for internal funding after due evaluation by Standing Rsearch Committee.

• Ms. D. Thenmozhi has presented and published a paper titled “An Extended Cross Lingual Information Retrieval System for Agricultural Domain Using Statistical Document Translation for Tamil Farmers” in the International Conference “Tamil Internet Conference 2010” held at Coimbatore as part of World Classical Tamil Conference during 23-27, June 2010.

• Dr. Chitra Babu was a session Chair in the International Conference on Advances and Emerging Trends in Computing Technologies(ICAET),2010 conducted by SRM University.

• Dr. Chitra Babu was a resource person for the Faculty Development Programme on Component Based Technology conducted by K C G College of Technology. She delivered a lecture on "RMI and Enterprise Java Beans" on June 14, 2010.

• Ms. R. Kanchana presented a paper titled "Template based SOA framework for dynamic and adaptive composition of Web Services" in the International conference on Networking and Information Technology (ICNIT 2010), at Manila, Philippines during 11-13 June 2010

• Mr. V. Balasubramanian delivered a Guest Lecture on "Theory of Computation", for II semester MCA students of SSNSoMCA on 6, 8, 13, 19 April 2010.

• A two-day National Workshop on "Cloud Computing" was organized by Ms.B.Prabhavathy, Ms.V.S.Felix Enigo, Ms.M.Saritha and Mr.A.Sandanakaruppan during April 2- 3, 2010, for the faculty members and research scholars of various Engineering Colleges

• Mr.A Sandana Karuppan organized a Guest Lecture on Graphics and Animation(Resolution and retouching) by R. Madhavi, Image Infotainment Pvt. Ltd. Chennai on 22nd March,2010 for III year BE CSE Students.

• Mr. J. Suresh and Dr.A.Srinivasan presented a paper in the ACEEE & IEEE International Conference in Recent Trends in Information, Telecommunication and Computing, held at Kochi, Kerala, India during 12-13 March, 2010. He also chaired for 3 sessions.

• S.Kavitha along with Arvind S Babu & R.Chocklingam, published a paper on "Hybrid Genetic Algorithm Approach to a Departmental Class Timetabling Problem Using Efficient Data Structues" on International Journal of Computer Applications, Vol 1 ,No.17, March 2010, PP:117-121

• Dr. Kalyani Baskar, Mr.D.V.V. Prasad, and Mr.V. Balasubramanian organised a workshop on Feb 15, 2010 for UG and PG students of CSE and IT on the topic "Web Security and Cyber Crime," in association with BodhBridge Educational Services (P) Limited Incubated by C-TIDES Department of Management Studies IIT Madras.

• Dr. Chitra Babu and Mr. S. Senthil Velan chaired two different sessions (Paper presentation) in the 2nd International Conference on Information and Software Engineering-NCISE201 held at Arupadai Veedu Institute of Technology, Paiyanoor on Feb 6, 2010.

• Ms.M.A. Padma Priya, Ms.S.Radha Meena, Ms.S.V.Jansi Rani and Mr.K.R.Sarath Chandran organized a Two days National Workshop on "Multicore Computing and Programming" on 4th & 5th February , 2010 for faculty members and Research scholars from various Engineering Colleges.

• Dr. Sartaj Sahni, Distinguished Professor & Chair, Computer & Information Science Engineering, University of Florida, had an interaction with II year CSE students about "Computer Algorithms & its Analysis" on January 4, 2010. The event was arranged & co-ordinated by Dr. Chitra Babu, Mr. D. VenkataVaraPrasad & Mr. V. Balasubramanian

• Mr. Guru Prasad, an SSN Almini delivered a guest lecture on “Text Analytics” for III year Students. 28th Jan 2010.

• Ms.D.Thenmozhi and Dr.C.Aravindan presented a paper titled "Tamil-English Cross Lingual Information Retrieval System for Agriculture Society" in Tamil Internet Conference at Koeln University, Germany during 23-25 October, 2009.

• On behalf of CSI student chapter of SSN, Ms A Chamundeswari along with Final year CSE students Ashok kumar and Supraja, organised a workshop "Robotics and Machine Intelligence" on 25th & 26th September 2009, under the guidance of Dr Chitra Babu. RMI team from NIT, Trichy were the resource persons for this workshop. Nearly 102 students were the participants for this hands-on session workshop.This workshop was funded by CSI.

• In commemoration of Software Freedom Day, Department of CSE, SSNLUG & IEEE-SSN student Branch organized a One-day workshop on “Free & Open Source Software” on 19th September 2009. The Resource persons are Mr. Ramadoss from NRCFOSS, MIT, Chennai, Mr.L.Srikanth (our Alumni CSE-2008), Software Engineer, Mysis-Bangalore, Mr.Shyaam(our Alumni IT-2007), Senior Software Engineer, JargonHandlers, Chennai. The workshop is co-ordinated by Dr. Chitra Babu, Mr. D. VenkataVaraPrasad and Mr. V. Balasubramanian.

• IEEE Women in Engineering SSN student chapter was inaugurated by Dr. T.V. Geetha, Chairman, Board of Information and Communication Engineering, Anna University, Chennai on 19th September, 2009. Dr. Chitra Babu, WIE student branch officer organised the inaugural function along with Dr. N. Sriraam, Faculty advisor for WIE student branch.

• Dr. Chitra Babu delivered a guest lecture on "Important aspects of Component Based Technology" for the Final year IT students of KCG College of Technology on 14th September, 2009.

• Department of CSE along with Association of Computer Engineers(ACE) conducted the annual technical symposium PARADIGM 2K9 on September 5, 2009. Mr. Vikram from Efficient Frontiers delivered the inaugural address.

• Mr. Narayanan Venkatraman, Senior Delivery Manager, Banking Solutions, Infosys Sholinganallur Development Centre, Chennai, delivered a talk on "Web 2.0" for II year CSE students as part of Infosys SYNC Programme on September 3, 2009.

• Mr. V. Balasubramanian acted as the judge for Microprocessor Project Design Competition in ORBITCE 2009, a technical symposium organized by Dept. of ECE on August 28, 2009.

• Mr S.M.Abishek, Research scholar (Alumni (2003-07)), Columbia University delivered a guest lecture on “Priority based Blind Scheduling for Linux Kernel” for Third year B.E students on August 25, 2009.

• Mr Harish Chandra, Research scholar (Alumni (2003-07)) ,Duke University delivered a guest lecture on “DNA Computing” for final year B.E students on August 19, 2009

• Prof.Venkateswaran of Waran Research Foundatoin,Chennai delivered a guest lecture on "Brain Modelling" for CSE Students on August 13, 2009

• Cognizant-SSN Open Source Lab funded by Cognizant Technology Solutions Ltd was inauguarated on 26th June,2009 by Mr. Viswakumar Ramasubramanian, Assistant Vice President, Global Technology Office.  Mrs. Kala Vijayakumar, President SSN Institutions presided over the inauguaral function.

• Mr.B.Senthil Kumar and Mr.K.R.Sarath Chandran developed a new website for NPTEL Video Lecture Course for SSN College of Engineering in July 2009. The National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning (NPTEL), a project funded by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD) paves the way for introducing multimedia and web technology to enhance learning of basic Science and Engineering concepts.The target group for this project consists of students and faculty of institutions offering undergraduate Engineering programmes in India.

• Mr.B. Senthil Kumar attended Oracle9i Training Program, conducted by ORACLE India Private Limited, Bengaluru from 18th to 29th of May.  Also he trained two faculty members in Oracle9i Database from 15-Jun-09 to 26-Jun-09.

• On 9th May, Mr.V. Balasubramanian and their team of 4 members received the participation certificate & Goodies for the Google Got the Aptitude contest.

• Dr. Chitra Babu has been nominated as a Member of Board of Studies for the Faculty of Information and Communication Engineering of Anna University.

• Mr. Vamsi Krishna, Co-Founder, Oopslabs, Chennai, delivered a guest lecture on "Future Scope in Web Technology with multimedia" for III year B.E and I year M.E students on 18th March, 2009 which was organized by Mr.A.Sandana Karuppan and Ms.P.Mirunalini

• Mr. A .Sandanakaruppan's research paper titled "Robust Distributed Scheduling service for CORBA Applications" has been accepted for International Journal of Computer Theory and Engineering. Also this paper was selected for IEEE proceedings through ICCCN2008.

• Dr. Chitra Babu attended a Doctoral Committee meeting of a Research scholar Mr. Saifullah at M.A.M. College of Engineering, Trichy. She delivered a guest lecture on "Evolution of Distributed System Middleware" on 7th March to III and Final year CSE and IT students of She was also felicitated as part of the Women's day celebrations held in the college.

• Ms. A.Chamundeswari has organised an "Intra College Techno Management Fest" in our campus on 20.02.2009, under the guidance of Dr.Chitra Babu, on behalf of the Student Chapter, Computer Society of India(CSI). Nearly 300 students from all departments enthusiastically participated in various events. It was presided by Prof. Ramanathan, Regional Director of CSI, Chennai Chapter. This program was funded by CSI.

• Dr. Sobha.L, Technical Member Sfaff, AU-BBC Research Center, MIT, Anna University, Chennai, delivered a guest lecture on "Information Extraction" in CSE department on 25.02.2009.

• Mr. Vinoth Krishnan(Alumni, SSN), Research Scholar, University of Minnesota, USA delivered a guest lecture on "Overseas Research Merits and Recommender Systems" in our department on 15.01.2009, which was organized by Mr.A.Sandanakaruppan

• ME(CSE) programme is accredited by the National Board of Accreditation on 25th, Dec 2008

• Dr. Chitra Babu received the CTS Best Faculty Award-2008 on Teacher's Day Function held on 15th September, 2008 for the outstanding performance

• The NBA Committee has visited our department for accreditation during 7th and 8th, April and our Department is accredited for 3 years by the NBA committee.



• High Performance Computing Lab is established

• Department has been recognized as a Centre for Research, by Anna University to offer Ph. D. and M.S. programmes in collaboration with Anna University.
• 25.08.2006-27.08.2006 and 01.09.2006-03.09.2006 - Ms A.Chamundeswari has organized a .NET training     programme for III year B.E(CSE) students. The training programme was handled by a corporate trainer from INDICOM software and services, chennai.
• 02.05.2006 - Dr.A.Srinivasan had presented papers titled “Virtual Lock for Grid Enabled Virtual Organization” and “Security for Grid Infrastructure using Instant Key Generator (CryptServer)” in the proceedings of 2^nd National Conference on Networking and Distributed Computing-STREAK, 2006, Tamil Nadu.
