Dr. M. MAHALAKSHMI graduated from J.A. College, Periyakulam, Madurai Kamaraj University, in 1993. She received silver medal for the best out-going student in B. Sc., in 1993. She obtained her postgraduate degree in general Chemistry from A.P.A. College of Arts and Culture, Palani, Madurai Kamaraj University, in 1995. She obtained her B.Ed degree from Lady willingdon institute, Chennai, in 1999 and M.Ed degree from Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai, in 2001.

She worked as P.G. Assistant in Bhuvanakrishna Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Chennai for one year and T.V. Sekharan Memorial Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Coimbatore for 2 years.

She obtained her Ph.D degree in Anna University, Chennai, in 2007. Her area of Specialization is Photocatalysis. She has published 3 papers in international journals. She has presented 3 papers in National and International conferences. She was working as lecturer in Jeppiaar Engineering collage, Chennai for one year prior to join SSNCE in 2007.

She has been recognized as guide for Ph.D. programme by Anna University .
