The most looked-forward-to item of the Graduation Day
was the conferring of the degrees to the graduands. It was a pleasure to
observe 705 of them going up the dais to be honoured with their degrees.
After this ceremonious event, the Chief Guest addressed the students in the
most effective manner possible: “Today, in Delhi, there are many things that
keep people involved - like the IPL, venture capital, Bollywood etc. But as
graduates, let us focus on one key opportunity - our demographics. Today we
are the Young India, because the rest of the world is growing older. It is
estimated that in 2020, India would have a workforce equal to the combined
workforce of Britain, Spain and Italy all put together. India will be
providing 25% of the world’s workforce. This is a rare opportunity of
becoming the talent provider to the world.”
This motivating speech was followed by the
administration of the oath by the new graduates and postgraduates. The
auditorium reverberated with the determined voices of the young. The members
of the audience too were impressed by the gratifying performance. The
Graduation Day came to an end with the national anthem sung with equal
enthusiasm by the graduates and the audience. |
