Dr. G. Selvakumar obtained his B.E. (Mechanical Engineering) degree with distinction from National Engineering College, Kovilpatti (Manonmaniam Sundaranar University, Tirunelveli) in 1999. He completed his M.E. (Computer Aided Design) degree also with distinction in 2003 from Government College of Engineering, Salem (Periyar University, Salem). He completed his Ph.D. degree from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, India in 2013.

His area of interest includes advanced manufacturing systems and decision technology.

Presently 11 Ph.D. scholars of Anna University, Chennai are pursuing research under his supervision.  He has published 14 international journal papers, 2 National journal papers, 10 conference papers and edited 3 books. He has around 14 + years of teaching experience in Engineering colleges and 7 + years of research experience. He was the secretary of ‘Society for Manufacturing Engineers’ for 3 years and associate editor of ‘Journal of Manufacturing Engineering’ for 2.5 years.

 Ongoing Sponsored Research Project:

 Being Principal Investigator (PI), received a project titled ‘Investigations on Wire Electrical Discharge Machining (WEDM) of Low Conductive Materials’, amounted to Rs. 31,92, 620/-  from Science and Engineering Research Board (SERB) for 3 years (1.3.2017 to 29.2.2020).
