Dr. M. Senthil Pandian, Research Scientist in the SSN Research Centre has 5 years of research experience in the field of Crystal Growth and 1 year research experience in Dye Sensitized Solar Cells (DSSC). He has finished his B.Sc. and M.Sc. degree in Physics from The American College, Madurai. He obtained his Ph.D. from Anna University, Chennai. His Ph.D. areas of specialization are unidirectional growth of nonlinear optical (NLO) and ferroelectric single crystals and their characterizations for SHG and ferroelectric applications. He was one of the team members who grew the 1350 mm length and 55 diameter nonlinear optical longest benzophenone single crystal. He was awarded as a project fellow in a World’s Longest Crystal project and latter he got a Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in SSN Instituions for 2 years. During his Ph.D. work, he has done parts of his research work in association with various National Laboratories. He has an extensive experience on the synthesis and growth of organic and semi-organic materials and instrumentation for materials characterizations.His present research interests are to enhance the efficiency of Dye Sensitized Solar Cells (DSSC) using differently synthesized, nanostructured and differently doped TiO2/ZnO. Using hybrid sensitizers by combining Quantum dots and Ru complex dyes. Replacement of   Platinum with less expensive materials: Transition metal carbide – Mesoporous Carbon (TMC-MC) such as Tungsten Carbide (WC), Vanadium Carbide (VC) and Molybdenum Carbide (MoC). Using solid-polymer (I3-/I-) and solid-organic (T2-/T-) electrolyte instead of liquid electrolyte.He has published 10 papers in Referred International Journals and presented more than 40 papers in International/National Conferences in which he got 5 Best Oral Presentation Award, 1 Best Indigenous Product Presentation Award, 1 Best Crystal Display Award and 2 Young Researcher Award. As an appreciation of his commendable work, he has received Best Researcher Award in the year of 2009 and 2012 from SSN Institutions on National Science Day programme. He has given three Invited Lectures in various National Conferences/Seminars.   1. Best Innovative Researcher Award for his Outstanding and Innovative Research in Crystal Growth. As a mark of honoring the Scientists on the National Science Day on 28th February (in commemoration of the renowned physicist and Nobel Laureate Sir C.V. Raman), Dr. M. Senthil Pandian is honored with the Best Innovative Researcher Award. The award carries a Certificate, a Shield and a Cash Prize. This programme is organized by Department of Human Resource Management, Noorul Islam University, Kumaracoil-629 180, Tamilnadu, India. This programme was sponsored by IEEE and Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), New Delhi.
  2. Young Researcher Award for his efforts and Outstanding Contributions in the field of Crystal Growth. He has received this award from the National Conference on Recent Trends in Advanced Materials (NCRTAM-2013) held during 16-17 December 2013 organized by GRD Centre for Materials Research, PSG College of Technology, Coimbatore-641 004, Tamilnadu, India. This conference was sponsored by CSIR.
  1. Young Researcher Award for his Outstanding Performance in the field of Crystal Growth. He has received this award from the National Conference on Advanced Materials and Application (NCAMA-2013) held at Department of Physics, National Institute of Technology (NIT), Tiruchirappalli-620 015, Tamilnadu during April 4-5, 2013. This award was given by Optical Society of America (OSA) and SPIE-Student Chapter.
  1. Best Oral Presentation Award in the UGC sponsored National Seminar on Recent Trends in Crystal Growth and Nano Materials held at Department of Physics, National College, Tiruchirappalli-620 001, Tamilnadu during March 13-15, 2013.
