Dr. V. Rajendran Ph.D
Dr.V.Rajendran had his Master’s Degree in Physics from American College, Madurai Kamaraj University, Madurai in 1979 and M.Tech in Engineering from Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore in 1981. He received his Ph.D from Chiba University, Japan in 1993. For his Ph.D work he was working on VHF / UHF Ultrasonic transducers for acoustic microscopy and LAMB Wave Devices for sensing mass density of liquid. He had been working in different institutions like Indian Institute of Science (IISc), Bangalore, Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras, Madras Institute of Technology (MIT) and National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT), Chennai at various levels since 1981. His interest is in Systems and signals, underwater acoustics, underwater acoustic based instruments, ocean observation system and ocean acoustic systems.
He received MONBUSHO Fellowship Award of Japanese Govt. Fellowship (1988-89) through Ministry of Human Resource and Development, Govt. of India. He also received Jaya Distinguished Scientist Award ’07 from Jaya Engineering College during their 9th Graduation Day on 26th April 2008. He had also been Elected Member twice as Vice Chairman – Asia of Executive Board of Data Buoy Co-operation Panel (DBCP) of Inter-Governmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC) / World Meteorological Organization (WMO) of UNSCO, in October 2008 and September 2009.
He is member of Acoustical Society of America and IEEE.
He had been handling major Government of India and Naval Research Board projects like Tsunami Warning System, Ocean Observation System projects, Ocean Acoustics, etc. In his credit, he has more than 19 journal publications, 16 publications in international conferences and 19 publications in national conferences.
