P. Roopana M.A, M. Phil, Ph.D

Ms. P. Roopana, Assistant professor in the department of English has 11 years of teaching and research experience. She has been teaching Technical English language and Communication Skills since 1999 for engineering students at the undergraduate level.
At the M. Phil level in Thiagarajar College, Madurai, she researched on the topic, Ernest Hemingway’s Nick Adams stories as Bildungsroman. During her post-graduation at the American College, Madurai, she translated Somerset Maugham’s short stories. At the undergraduate level in Lady Doak College, Madurai, she worked on a project titled Indianness in R. K. Narayan’s The Guide. At present she is pursuing her Ph.D. at Manonmaniam Sundaranar University on Anita Desai’s novels.
She is a recognized trainer for the Business English Certificate Course organized by British Council, Chennai. She has attended many conferences and workshops in India. She has been awarded as the best teacher for the academic year 2008-09 by the SSN Management. She has published an article titled “Globalizing a Narrative: Anita Desai’s The Zigzag Way”, in a National journal Literature after Globalization published by Manonmaniam Sundarnar University, Tirunelveli. She has also published a paper titled “Anita Desai’s Novels as Women’s Fiction” in an anthology named Indian women Novelist: Critical Discourses edited by Dr. M. F. Patel in Oct. 2010.
