Dr. K.S. Vijay Sekar possesses a Doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering from Anna University specializing in Finite Element Analysis in Machining. He has secured a Master’s degree in Computer Aided Design and a Bachelor’s degree in Production Engineering both from Madras University.
He has more than 20 years of Teaching experience and 10 years of Research experience and has successfully guided more than 25 PG projects and 35 UG projects in his long stint in this profession.
He has published more than 20 Research Papers in International and National Journals and presented his research work in more than 20 International and National Conferences and has filed for a Patent on “Hydro-pneumatic bumper systems” in 2014. He recently received the Best Faculty Award of the Mechanical Department for 2014 -15.He has received the SSN Best Faculty Award for the year 2014 -15 from IT Major Cognizant. He received an AICTE grant of Rupees 18.65 Lakhs towards research in the area of ‘FEA in composite machining using 3D modelling’ under the RPS scheme (2013-16). He was adjudged the Best faculty (first prize) for 2009-10 and Best faculty (second prize) for 2008- 09 of the Mechanical Department at SSN. He has received the Best Achiever Award in 2006, from Hindustan College of Engineering, his previous employer. He Presented Research papers in The International Conference on Mechanical, Manufacturing and Control, ICMMC 2014 during November 21-23, 2014 in Singapore, winning the Best Oral Presentation award and the International Conference on Manufacturing and Optimization, ICMO 2012 during September 15-16, 2012, in Beijing.
He has successfully adapted 3 World class Engineering text books : Manufacturing Engineering by Serope Kalpakjian and Steven R Schmid, Mechanics of Materials by RC Hibbeler and Thermodynamics: An Interactive Approach, by Subrata Bhattacharjee from the US edition to the SI edition for the Pearson’s group based in Singapore.
He teaches Finite Element Analysis, Manufacturing Technology I and II, Computer Integrated Manufacturing and Engineering Graphics for the UG program and Automated Computer Integrated Manufacturing Systems, Metal Cutting and Non Destructive Evaluation for the PG program.
His Areas of Research interest include studies on machinability of composite materials and super alloys and application of Finite Element tools to understand machining characteristics and optimize the manufacturing process.
He is a life member in IIE, ISTE, IACSIT, an avid reader, a music enthusiast and shares his positive thoughts concerning people, life and the triumph of the human spirit, in social media.
