Dr. A.N. Arvindan B.E., M.E., Ph.D.
A. Narayanan Arvindan graduated in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from College of Engineering, Guindy, Anna University, in 1988. He obtained the masters degree in Power Systems and the Ph.D. degree in Power Electronics from NIT, Tiruchirapalli, in 1995 and the Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Jamia Millia Islamia (a Central University), New Delhi, in 2007 respectively.
He has over 22 years of professional experience including 10 years in industry and 12 years in academics. His industrial experience includes a stint at Asea Brown Boveri (ABB), Bangalore, where he designed high current rectifiers in the power electronics division. He has wide field exposure and has completed several projects including electrification of large continuous process plants and overhead transmission systems. In 1999, he took to academics by joining an engineering college affiliated to the Anna University, Chennai, as Assistant Professor and was conferred ‘The Best Teacher Award’ for three successive academic years 2000-2001, 2001-2002 and 2002-2003. Currently, he is a professor in the EEE Department of SSN Engineering College, Anna University, Chennai, wherein he was bestowed ‘The Best Teacher Award’ and recognized as a ‘teacher par excellence’ for the academic year 2008-2009.
Prof. Arvindan is a life member of ISTE, India, and member of the IEEE, USA. He is listed in Marquis Who’s Who in the World, 2008 and 2009. His project on multipulse converter was recognized as one of the top six Electrical & Electronics Engineering projects in 2008-2009 and received funding by the Tamilnadu State Council for Science and Technology. He received ‘Certificate of Appreciation’ from the General Co-Chairman, IEEE PEDS 2009, for outstanding contribution and serving as Session Chair at the 8th IEEE International Conference on Power Electronics and Drive Systems, held in Nov.2009 at Taipei, Taiwan. He has published over 60 research papers in international/national journals and conferences. He received ‘Certificate of Excellence’ and ‘Best of Best Research Paper Award’ for a research paper at the IET-UK 2nd International Conference on Sustainable Energy and Intelligent System, SEISCON 2011, organized by IET YPS, Chennai. He is a reviewer for IEEE Transactions (Industrial Electronics, Aerospace and Electronic Systems) and conferences. His fields of interest include power electronics, power quality, ac/dc drives and simulation software.
