Dr. M. Subramanian has completed B.Tech (1994) in Chemical Engineering from Coimbatore Institute of Technology, Bharathiar University; and M.Tech (1998) in Chemical Engineering from A.C.College of Technology, Chennai, Anna University. He finished his Ph.D from Indian Institute of Technology Madras, by October 2009. He has received AICTE’s National Doctoral Fellowship for doing his Ph.D. He joined in this institution by May 2009.

He has two years of industrial experience (1994-1996), of which one year was in Fab Equip, a chemical equipment fabrication industry at Chennai, where he got exposures to design, detailed engineering and fabrication of storage tanks, heat exchangers, agitators and reaction vessels. In another one year, he has worked in Tamil Nadu Chemical Products Ltd., a chemical process industry at Karaikudi, where he got exposures to operation of batch processes, refrigeration and effluent treatment plant.

Prior to joining here, he has six years of teaching experience (1998-2004) in Sri Venkateswara College of Engineering, Sriperumbudur. He has taught various subjects to undergraduate students such as Fluid Mechanics, Thermodynamics, Process Control, Process Equipment Design, Process Economics, Environmental Engineering, etc.

He has authored one book on chemical engineering titled “An Insight into Chemical Engineering”,  Rishal Publications, Chennai, 2003, consisting of 400 pages. It comprises of instant notes, objective types and problems on the core subjects of chemical engineering, which serves as a guide for preparing to competitive exams for undergraduate students.

He is a certified Energy Auditor, since 2006, certified by Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Government of India.

He has published 2 papers in international journals and presented 2 papers in international conferences. He has also presented 6 papers in national level conferences. He has delivered short lectures to industry professionals. He has conducted Faculty Development Programme on Energy, and Training Programme on MS-Excel & MATLAB.

His research area during PhD was photocatalysis applied to wastewater treatment. His present research interests are: process modeling and simulation, and energy management.
