Activities

 

1. VOTING AWARENESS CAMPAIGN

            Election & voting awareness – Campus Ambassador training session for campus representatives of various colleges in Kancheepuram District held at Aringnar Anna Boys Higher Secondary School, Chengalpat on 14th Oct. 2014. Mr. Arun K.V.J of II year Mech. and Mr.Venkatesh Babu of II year EEE attended this training from our college as campus ambassadors.  This programme was conducted by Election Commission to create Awareness about Voting and Importance of Registration to vote.

2. STEM CELL DONATION DRIVE

            DATRI, a Non Govt. Organization working on creating awareness on peripheral stem cell donation among the common conducted a stem cell donation drive in out college on 25th & 26th Sep. 2014. NSS volunteers help the DATRI team in registering the students and mobilizing the donors throughout the college.

3. EUREKHA RUN 2014

Eureka Run for Children education organized by AID India an NGO. 50 NSS Volunteers of our College participated and volunteered this run on 16th Nov. 2014 from Mahatma Gandhi statue to Labor statue in the Marina beach to bring about awareness on the current status of children education in Tamilnadu.

4. ORGANIC FARM VISIT

            NSS Unit with 57 NSS Volunteers visited an Organic Farm on 7th Feb, 2015.  NSS Programme officer Ms. Kaythry organized the visit to the organic farm at vengambakkam nearby selaiyur, Chennai. The importance of Organic farming, ways to implement it and its benefits were shared during the session by the farm incharge Mr. KesavaRaj.

5. ECO-WALK

            Our NSS Unit in association with Chennai trekkers Club organized a “Eco Walk”. 25 NSS Volunteers and NSS PO from our NSS Unit and 3 Professional trekkers from Chennai Trekkers Club participated in the ECO Walk at Nagallapuram Western Hill Range, Andhra Pradesh on 19th April 2015. We cleaned the foot path by removing plastics wastes.

 

 

 

6. SAMUDHAY – VILLAGE SURVEY

In association with HCL foundation, SSN college of Engineering launched a project “Samudhay” to create model villages across the country. Samudhay will address five broad areas in the villages – Education; Healthcare; Infrastructure; Water and Employability. On 12th October 2014, our NSS volunteers did Village survey at four villages in Thiruporur Panchayat.

7. THAI MANNAE VANAKKAM

            NSS Unit of our College in association with “Vikatan magazine” organized a programme to enlighten the Students community on “Traditional Foods and Cultural Balancing” on 21st March 2015. Dr. Sivaraman stressed the importance of traditional foods like millets, palm sugar and side effects of Whitened sugar, Maida etc. Mr. Bharathi Krishna kumar stressed about Cultural impacts and how to balance it.

8. IIT, MADRAS OPEN HOUSE – NSS CONCLAVE

            On behalf of our NSS Unit, 5 of our NSS Volunteers participated in the Chennai NSS Conclave conducted by NSS of IIT, Madras as a part of IIT Madras Open House – 2015 on 18th April 2015. Our NSS volunteers gave a presentation about the NSS activities of our College. Later our Volunteers participated in the panel discussion with IIT NSS
Volunteers.

9. ORPHANAGE VISIT

            A team of 15 NSS volunteers from our NSS unit visited “Good life center” a home for children orphanage at Tambaram, Chennai on 4th April 2015. Our volunteers donated groceries, Rice, Soaps etc. worth of Rs. 10000 to the inmates of the orphanage.   Also our volunteers interacted with the kids in the orphanage and spent time with them.

10. YOUTH DAY CONFERENCE

            Swami Vivekanandha Foundation organized an Youth Awareness Program to make young minds free from all unwanted habits and also Guiding them to a right path by a volunteering program which held  in Vels University on Jan 7,2015. VIT Founder Mr. G. viswanathan addressed the gathering and 20 volunteers from our unit participated in the same.

11. GROUP DISCUSSION

            GD on FEMINISM and WATER CONCIOUSNESS had been done by our volunteers on 30th March, 2015 and 9th April, 2015. It was an interactive session among the volunteer each of them shared their views and ideas in the discussion.
